I hope these pics work! We rescued Sofie a few weeks ago -- she had a cancerous limb which was amputated (she's probably fairly old too, around 12-14).

Sofie in her t-shirt (this is to prevent her from licking/scratching her incision, but she also looks v cute in it
):

If these work, I do have some more I can post. She still looks like a bit of a ragamuffin (she was very skinny, had huge patches of fur missing, and was filthy when we found her), but we think she's adorable!

Thanks.
She really seems like an incredibly sweet cat, who still has some living left to do.

Okay, I'm adding a few more pics because I can't resist.
Here she is pre-operation. Her paw is wrapped up, but the infected tumor had made it about 4 times the size of her healthier paws:

Another pic of her just looking sweet:

And, finally, just a hi-larious outtake (

What a sweetie she is. Somehow she just looks like she knows something good is happening to her. Did you tell her story and I missed it? How did you find her? (Or how did she find you?)

Awww! What a sweetie! Bless you for taking in a special needs kitty. I have one, too. You'll find out, as many of us have, that these special souls are well worth any extra effort!

Marine, basically I had seen Sofie wandering around my neighborhood for a few weeks. Every time I saw her, I was also walking my dogs, so she wouldn't approach me. I noticed she walked with a limp. One day my husband was also with me, and he stood with the dogs while I approached her. She was super friendly, rubbing against me and purring, etc.

I noticed that one of her front paws was huge, bleeding and infected (and it smelled terrible
). She had no collar on or anything, and was in such bad shape that hubby and I determined that we would have to try and catch her, and get her some medical help. It was one of those scenarios where you know you couldn't live with yourself if you walked away, if you know what I mean!

Well, while hubby went to get a crate to put her in, I waited around, and managed to speak to a lady who had been feeding Sofie (dog food
). She'd been feeding her for at least three months, and she was certainly a stray. She gave us her blessing to collect her, because she knew that she was very ill (and she could not afford to help her, other than feed her and let her sleep in her garage, which was very kind!).

The lady who had been feeding her thought she had been bitten by a raccoon (hence the swollen paw), but it turns out that Sofie actually has cancer.
She really seemed to still have a zest for life though, so we opted for her to have the amputation surgery, and we have adopted her ourselves. She's a sweetheart. Now our only challenge is to integrate her with our other pets!

Edited to add -- Tari, I definitely agree with you about the special needs kitties -- Sofie really does seem to have a unique spirit.
