I caught the second kitty last night in our TNR program, and this one was pregnant as well as it turns out! 2 weeks along with 5 babies.

So that's a total of 11 kitties from 2 cats we've stopped being born into the life of a feral, which definitely makes the sitting around waiting, and the early mornings to get them in more than worthwhile!

Are you going to just spay all the ferals if they are pregnant or not? I think it's great what you're doing...I always hate thinking about the ferals having litter after litter...

That's awesome. How long did you have to wait to catch the mommas? I have a very round one in my apartment complex and I've been trying for two days to catch her, but no luck yet. She is a sneaky little character, however. This morning she carefully walked into the trap, stretched to get a small bite of tuna and carefully backed out. darn!!

I just hope I can catch her before she pops.

Congratualations on your catches!

We're spay and neutering every kitty we can catch - pregnant or not!

These kitties are truly feral so they don't know what the trap is. The first one took an hour, the second one took 45 minutes. The other lady who's trapping caught "her" 2 in about 10 minutes, and 15 minutes.

Their main food source is what we give them, so we take the food away the day before, then put the traps out at dusk, with a trail of tuna juice from where the empty feeding stations are to the traps which has food in it.

If she can reach in, maybe you need to move the food further back, and put it directly on the cage, so she can't pull it out with her paw?

Maybe put some notes in peopls letterboxes saying you're trying to trap her so you can get her proper attention since she's so pregnant, so if anyone's feeding her to stop.

I don't know if you plan to abort the kittens if you catch her, but I wouldn't mention that in the note - there may be people very against that!

Sarah...how wonderful that you have been able to trap and spay these cats. Now is definately the time when females come in pregnant. Our spay clinic is this weekend and I know that there will be several pregnant females. Given that these are feral cats...I am definately pro spay/abort.
