My name is Anna (25), and my screen name (LuvCCC) stands for my three cats: Cally, Cage, & Cruz.

Cally (solid black DSH, spayed female, 2004) has been with me since she was 7 weeks old. I brought her home from a neglectful family - she was a very shy and malnourished little girl, now she is a shy and over-nourished girl. She is very bonded with me and afraid of almost everyone she meets, although her confidence is returning now that we have moved into the new house, and she has more control of her space. She sounds alot like a pigeon: crroo-crroo-prrrow?

Cage (black & white "pinto" DSH, neutered male, 2005) has been with me since I rescued him as a 6 week old kitten from the local drug house. The people had been throwing the kittens around, kicking them, feeding them scraps of cheese and sandwich meat - the litter box was BLACK, so gross. The kittens and Mama were finally tossed outside and lived under the back porch until I found out what was happening. I also rescued his little tuxedo littermate at that time (Paige) who was severely underweight and terrified. She went to the local cat rescue group and was adopted almost immediately. Cage is a volunteer Pet Therapist at the hospital in town; he is leash and harness trained, fetches, sits, waves, shakes a paw, etc. He likes to yell at me. Alot. Loudly.

Cruz (chocolate point w/white Snowshoe Siamese, spayed female, 2006) is my newest furball, and the last cat to join the family. She is still quite the "juvie" (teenager), has tons of energy, and is a very striking girl. She was purchased from a breeder in town by the "Jones" family, who gave up on her for whatever reason and gave her away to the "Smith" family. The Smith Family threw her outside when they discovered cat allergies, and she was picked up about a week later by the local animal control people. I fostered her at first, but after only a few days, I was smitten, and so she stayed. When she came to my home, she had a pink collar with rhinestones (too tight) and several feet of string wrapped around her tiny neck - they were digging into her flesh - we had to cut them off, and she had a scar for weeks. This has since healed perfectly. There was a heavy 4" wooden cross hanging from the string. "Cruz" means "the cross bearer" in Spanish. Her voice is very soft and kitten-ish; she loves to chat.

My cats are the love of my life. They have been with me through all the tears and trials of the past few years, they are ever-faithful and forgiving, they are my pride and joy. I dont know what I would do without them.

I am looking forward to chatting about cats with fellow feline fans.

Hello and welcome Anna! Thank you for sharing your stories and photos. They are beautiful, healthy cats
I feel the same about my guy, he's been my best friend for a long time. Where would we be without them?

Thanks for your warm welcomes, everyone.

I love my kitties, they are so wonderful.

Does anyone know .... if two cats are very bonded (sleeping yin-yang style, grooming each other, playing all the time, etc) will either or both of them become easily bonded with our new dog? How often does that happen? Is it easier for the little "teen" to bond with the dog, or the confident and stable older male cat to bond with the dog? Just wondering... they all seem to co-exist very well, but I am hoping for them to bond.

Thanks!

Welcome Cally, Cage, Cruz, and Anna,

to TheCatSite and may you be many times blessed for saving these precious lives and loving and caring for them so well. All Nine of "mine" are rescued, too, though none from the traumatic and nightmarish scenarios you describe; they were just "at large" outside in our former and current neighborhoods, and in they came! All are "speutered", indoor-only, and of course, the lights of my life. Nicolas is our Elder Statesman, at almost 17 years young; Baby Suha is in her "terrible two's" but growing gentler and sweeter all the time.

Glad you found TheCatSite, hope you'll visit often and enjoy it here! and thanks so much for sharing the gorgeous photos. Your furfamily are beautiful!
