I'm a bit confused. Penelope has never had any problems with earmites since I got her as a stray and now she has some signs. I just put her revolution on today, will this be enough to clean it out or should I attempt to remove via the KittyEarWipes I have?

And how did she get these? She doesn't go outside and is only around Maverick. I can tell its bothering her as she has a bit of a temperature today and is fussing with her ears. She's just having a bad week. For her tail now this.

If her ears are really dirty I don't see how the wipes would hurt.

Have you checked Maverick's ears too?
Sometimes earmites can be a bit tough to get rid of.

Penelope having a fever concerns me a bit though, are you sure it couldn't be an ear infection? If her ears keep bothering her and there's a fever you should get her to the vet.

One of my cat has earmites too and it's just very difficult to get rid of. I can see gunk in his ears so I'm constantly cleaning his ears and putting earmite medicine in his ears once a week. I've tried having the vet do earmite cleaning as well as medication from vet and so far it only worked on my other cat but not this one.

If you see gunk, it's most likely earmites. If you have access to a microscope, just get sample of the gunk and put it on a slide under a microscope. I would highly suggest you to clean her ears with an ear cleaning solution and cotton balls. My vet suggested that cleaning ears should be consider as part of grooming your cat so I do this once a week. I'm more afraid my other one will get infected so I've been religiously keeping both their ears clean.

I don't think earmites will cause fever so if it is bothering her then you might need to take her to the vet. I've actually heard incidents that revolution along with any other flea medication does cause a raise in cat's temperature. I had one of my cat with a fever the day after she was given her flea medication so the vet put her on antibiotics and I washed her flea medicine off.

Hmmm, maybe it was the revolution as I didn't notice a fever until after I placed it on her. she is cool now.

I got most of the gunk out of her ear but she is a squirrely one so it took 3 attempts.

Thank you both for the advice. With both of mine being indoors I'm not used to these types of issues.
