I'm sooooo sad
Colin and I are going out of town from Thurs-Tues to Mobile, AL to see his family. We are taking our dogs with us when we go (they love the trip!) But we can't take the kitties with us so i have to take them to the shelter while i'm gone.
I'm SOOOOOOO attached to them all- as i am with them around the clock caring for them- even on my lunch breaks from work i come straight home to care for them. I'm really going to miss them all!!!!! Right now i have a litter of 4 2-3 week old kittens, a litter of 2 8week old tabbie girls, and my sweet little boy Kojak (he's 6 months old- we've decided pretty much to adopt him after fostering him for 6 months
we just can't part with him!!) I'm just being a worried meowmy, but i hope my babies will be ok while i'm gone.
One of the other foster mommies is comming to pick up my litter of the four tiny kittens (she does excellent work- so i know she'll take good care of them while i'm gone). Then on Thrs. my two little 8 week old girls will be spayed. Then after they are spayed, Ivy (who has already been adopted) will be going to her new home on Monday. ( I normally NEVER let my foster kittens out of my site until they're 12 weeks old as far as adoptions go- but she is going into a home of a friend of mine who is a seasoned kitty expert- so i'm not worried about Ivy.) Iris will also be spayed, and while there placed up for adoption- if approved, someone will be able to adopt her but won't be able to take her home until she's 12 weeks old (that's the game plan so far) so i will probably be getting her back when i get back in town. When i get back- will have my little bitty 4 kittens and likely Iris to still foster. Little Kojak is going to be kept in the back of the shelter in the isolation area (specifically so he won't be near other kitties that could make him sick or dogs to annoy him.) The other techinician i work with is a great friend of mine - she will personally be caring for him every day and giving him his meds and food while i'm gone- so i KNOW he'll be taken wonderful care of. I just can't bare the thought of being without my little Kojak for 5-6 days
I will probably be calling up there every single day of our vacation to check on my kitten and our foster kittens. Could ya'll spare some vibes for my little foster kittens and Kojak that they will be ok while i'm out of town. I'm already starting to worry and i haven't even taken them up yet- am i a paranoid mommy or what!
I'm soooooooooooo going to miss my babies

It's hard leaving your kitties behind. But I'm sure they'll be in good care, so you shouldn't worry.

I hope so- i've been a nervous wreck just thinking about leaving my little ones while i'm gone. I'm with them around the clock- i'm their meowmy- so the thought of leaving them really upsets me- i'm worried something will happen to them or something and i won't be there you know! Especially little Kojak - poor thing will probably think we've just abandoned him
I hope they'll be ok. I know it's only 5 days- but that's 5 days without my furbabies and foster babies

For future trips, have you looked into trying to find a house sitter that would stay at your house and take care of the kids? I mean, how expensive is it to house them at a shelter?

We actually use Critter Sitters for my girls (they're still at my old duplex with my mom- have to move them into Colins house soon). The reason these are going to the shelter is because i work there and foster there. The Critter Sitter people are excellent- but i do not want them looking after my infant foster kittens.....They will ONLY go with someone I know who has a lot of experience with infants and can care for them properly....there is another foster mom at the shelter i'm at who has already agreed to "babysit" mine while i'm out of town (i do the same for her). I know they will be in good hands with her. As far as Iris and Ivy go- they are getting spayed this week and MUST be at the shelter -so that's why they're going- they are the shelter's "property" - not mine so i can not leave my fosters in the care of someone else who is not registered with our shelter (as our other foster mom is) for liability and safety reasons- i also have a lot of sickly little ones so i know at the shelter- the staff i work with will take EXCELLENT care of them. It is of no cost to me as i work and volunteer there. I'm up there just about every single day of the week. Kojak is staying at the shelter with my dear friend Christie. She is the other tech there so i know she'll give him his meds and take good care of him- he will be kept in the back away from other animals so he won't be bothered by them. That's why they're going to the shelter.

I am hoping that you have a great trip and that you will get calming vibes about leaving your babies.
