Lots of geodes, are you an actual rockhound, or do you just find and collect semiprecious stones?

i love you signature!

I have red and blue tigers eye as well, garnet, emerald, pyrite, hematite, amethyst, white opal, peacock gold, citrine, teeth and ocean fossils, lapis lazuli. God i can't remember all the names lmao

Errrrrrm whats the difference between a hound and a collector?

I bought alot of these from a place in Hurstbridge (Australia)called SheEarth and whenever a gemshow comes up locally i go there and buy all the 50c lucky dips that have cutoffs and rough stones. They make a great collection. I only just got back into it the last year. I used to have lots more when i was little but it was a phase and i didnt realise how valuable it was to collect them and how much more colurful they make your life. There aren't rocky places around here, just gravel driveways lol. Where Tristan lives used to be a big goldmining town in earlier centuries but it's pretty much been taken now. Though he did find lots of raw rock when he was little that he gave me a bit of now, it's some sort of lead material used to reinforce bullets.

I like to collect
just need more

If you look under the big blue candleholder, there is a heart shaped one there. I looks just like plain stone, but there is a little chip on the side and it's full of crystals. Really perty!

Those are very pretty.

I used to have a have a large collection of raw rocks, polished ones, crystals, fossils, and even some arrow and spear heads I had found. When I was moving out of my dad's house his wife and her kids went through my stuff!
Luckily they didn't get my quartz clusters and a few others. Is it silly that I miss my collection?

You sound like my Aunt Diana (RIP). She loved rocks and would come to our annual Gem & Mineral Show to get stuff. A lot of them she shared with the young people in her church classes to illustrate the wonders of God's creation.

BTW - nice chunk of sodalite in that votive candle holder. The people I know would be cutting it up into slabs and making jewelry - just the like the rough chunks they sell at the local pet place (meant for aquarium decor!)

That's awesome! Mine look about like that. All are highly polished though. It's hard to tell if that one is or not. I'd take a pic of them now but I'm honestly too lazy to go to the other computer to upload them!
At least for tonight!

It's not polished, its like a carved geode almost but the outside isn't agate it's a dull stone

Rock hounds actually go out and hit up nature and find them themselves.
I used to go rockhounding with my stepdad, usually thunder egg hunting (geode), we would crack the geodes to see what type of crystals they contained.
We'd pick up all sorts of natural agate, jasper and turquoise among others and tumble them all shiney at home.
It was a very fun hobby, especially for a dirt loving tomboy like I was
