Smudgie-kitten went for a check up with the eye doctor this morning to make sure everything was fine since she had the extra fur/eyelashes removed.

DH took her since I had heaps to do at work (I hate not going to vet appts!!!), but he said everything went well.

The vet said that there's some hairs growing back where she froze the other ones off, but they're growing in the right direction and shouldn't cause her any problems. There's no more ulcers on her eyes (apparently there was last time
), so that's good.

She has all these stringy looking things in her eye where the iris is, which makes it hard to see her actual eye, but the vet said it's just a genetic defect like the small eyeballs, and the missing eyelids, and that she doesn't know any better, so it's not a problem.

She gave us some artificial tears eye drops to put in her eyes once or twice a week if her eyes look gunky at all, but said she shouldn't need them.

So she'll always have small, squinty eyes, but she's not in pain, and she can see fine, so it's not a problem. I think it adds to her character

I'm just so glad we adopted her and she didn't have to go to the shelter, an older black kitten with squinty eyes would have sat at the shelter for ages, no matter how wonderful her personality is!

Even with squinty eyes, Smudge is the cutest little thing on four legs!

Oh bless her little heart! The poor little pumpkin! I'm glad to hear it went well for her.... I hope the drops don't make her crazy.... just clipping Louie's nails he acts like I'm sawing off a leg!

I think Smudge is just beautiful, squinty eyes or not, in fact, that's part of what makes her so beautiful.
I'm so glad her vet visit went well.

I'm sure I don't need to tell you how Smudge stole my heart from day one.
There's just something very special in her lovely little face that tugs at one's heartstrings. How wonderful of you to have saved this little one and given her such a warm and loving home.

PS - we could never have TOO many pictures of her so keep 'em coming.

The problem is that with a fluffy black cat with squinty eyes, all you can ever see is a black blob....
It's so hard to get pics of her that have ANY definition!
