I want to share my experience while changing from a heavy clay litter to light weight, Worlds Best Cat Litter.

Because the A&H clumping clay litter that we have been using for ages has become progressively dustier,
I decided that because of Dexter's Asthma, we had to stop using clay.

After much research, Worlds Best Cat Litter was my choice.
Three weeks ago I began mixing the clay with WB.
Yesterday, I cleaned the box and poured in all WBCL.
Mind you...Dexter & Sadie are almost 7 years old and have known nothing but clay littler.

Here are my observations about the way my kitties are reacting to this radical litter change.
WB is extremely light weight compared to clay.
Their feet sink into it when they stand in the box.
They look really confused.

Dexter, my 16lb hunk of cat, loves to dig and scratch in the box.
I had filled it to the height that I did with clay.
Dex created a Corn Storm after he used it, litter flying everywhere because it is so lightweight.

I will not go back to clay.
They are not enthusiastic about the change because WBCS is so different in weight, texture, color & scent than clay but I am convinced that if I stick with it we will all be better off.

Have you had experience changing to Worlds Best?
Any tips?
Also, have you tired the WB multiple cat litter?

Any feedback appreciated.
I really think we are going to like this litter.

I use WBC for multiple cats and don't find it nearly as lightweight as the Swheat Scoop I was using before. I don't find it dusty either. Bijou and Mika both do a lot of scratching and I really don't have a dust storm. In fact, since switching to WBC I have far less dust than I used to get with clay litter.

I don't know why your formula would be so very different than the one we get here in Canada. Maybe it's something to go to WBC website and ask about.

WBCL was a little expensive and hard to find around here. A&H also makes a corn litter, it's called "High Performance". Puppy loves to dig in it.

I guess that my post was not clear about the dust...
There has been no dust with the WBCL as opposed to clay...the reason for the change.
The corn storm was just my feeble attempt at of bit of wit because Dexter really enjoyed kicking the light weight granules out of the box.

Obviously, something got lost in translation.

Anyway, my point was that I have changed from clay because clay was unacceptably dusty.
I intend to stick with the WBCL..
and wondered if others had similar experiences during their change from clay to WB.

I will try the multiple cat WBCL next time.
I really like this stuff...
almost no dust and that was what I needed.
Thanks for your feedback.

How do you like the A&H corn litter bab-ush-niik?

I've tried WBCL and while I loved it, my cats didn't. I think I might have stuck with it except that it's so expensive. I may give it another try though because since Bailey was sick I've moved a litter box into my office so I can see who does what and it seems like everything just gets coated in dust.

Another reason I like WBCL is because it's made here in Iowa.

I just recently converted to WBCL (multiple cats)....and I love it!
It's currently being tested by Reecie and her 3 4mo kittens.

Definately a lot less tracking (but then my litter boxes has mesh mats under them) and no odour at all

BUT, my only issue is that it does not last as long as it claims. One bag of multiple cat does NOT last for one month...2-3 weeks is more like it.

Wow, I'm surprised. I have two litter boxes - a large and a medium one. I wash them out and change them out completely only about once every 6 weeks. I scoop at least once per day and add about 3 or 4 cups of fresh litter about every 4 days. We have a small house and the litter is in our bedroom. We have no odour. I have asked a trusted friend (who I know would tell me the truth) if she could detect any litter odour and she does not.

I buy the large bag and it easily lasts me 2 months or more.

Ahh there you go! The large bags have not arrived in Malaysia yet. The supplier/importer is just now testing the market! Small bags only here
.

BTW it's THE most expensive cat litter available over here but for me, definately worth it!

I used World's Best and liked the Regular better than the Multiple Cat. (The scent was different.)

However; because of having to manage 9 cat boxes it was too expensive for me to keep getting so I switched to Purina Layena Chicken Feed. Basicilly the same thing, only the cost is about $10.50 for a 50 lb,. bag. All the benefits of WB without the high price tag.

If you like a really lightweight litter then either Arm * Hammer High Performance of Nature's Miracle are similar to one another, but quite costly. I use the Nature's Miracle in my two upstairs boxes just because I like it.

Both Dexter & I are scent sensitive.
So far, the natural scent of WB original is very light...not offensive at all.
Until Dexter & Sadie are completely comfortable with WB original, I won't try the Multiple Cat.
I might try a small bag down the line.

I would love to buy the less expensive Purina Layena Chicken Feed but I have a back issue and can't lift that heavy weight.

Dexter's last asthma attack cost us over $900, so the cost of WB compared to keeping us all healthy is minimal.

Another point about clay...
my kitties always had a light dusting of clay on their coats that I could smell when I snuggled in their fur.
That is gone now and I can't detect any scant on their coats from the WB.

When Bijou was a baby and I used the clay litter, he started sneezing quite a bit. I had read somewhere that the dust from the clay litter could get into their little lungs and it would collect moisture which could turn into lumps in their lungs. Whether that was really true or not, it scared me enough that I switched to the corn based Swheat Scoop. I found that to be too dusty, went to WBC and have never looked back.

The clay may be OK for older cats, but I personally would not use it with kittens anymore.

I am convinced that over time, the dust from clay litter, contributed to lung inflammation that lead to Dexter's serious asthma attack at six years old.

I am truly grateful for the search tool in this forum.
I read the reviews about WB and decided that would be our best option.

I tried switching to just corn based litter (not WB but a cheaper brand) and found it was too light. Pushy refused to go in the box, and when Wiggies did he tracked quite a lot.
I do really like the smell and found it worked well for odor control. And there's no dust with this stuff.
I mix mine now with clay and SwheatScoop so that both boys will use it.
I've found adding the corn based litter has really helped cut down on dust around the box, and on odor too.

Same here, and all 4 of mine took to WBCL well too.

Personally, I prefer the regular bags, and it lasts for nearly as many days as it says on the bags (it says 36 and it lasts approx 3-4 weeks), but with the amount of scooping I do, thats no big surprise. I can't remember what it was about the multiple one that I didn't like, but I do remember Magnum took a dislike to it and scooped it all out of the box and onto the floor

I am actually in the process of switching to WBCL. I've been using the multiple cat scoopable Tidy Cats and we all seemed to like it smell-wise and it had good clumpability (is that a word?).
I would have stayed with the Tidy Cats except for the dust. My poor Stanley, with his never-ending URI was having terrible sneezing fits trying to use the box. Dig, dig, sneeze, dig, dig, sneeze...

I was thinking about changing and then the coupon came. My Sunday paper had a $2 off coupon for WBCL, my local Hannaford supermarket sells the 7lb bags for $5.99, so I got a starter bag for $3.99 and decided to take the plunge. I have two kitties and three boxes, so I just dumped the clay out of one box (actually the lesser used one) and put the corn in. Since it's lighter, I didn't fill it as deeply. Immediately the new box was a source of interest
and I have now seen both Stan and Bella use it. More importantly I have noticed that Stan has now started to favor the corn box and I'm not waking up to dig, dig, sneeze, dig, dig, sneeze...

My husband even said "this corn litter stuff smells good", don't hear that often in reference to a litter box! Another great thing about the corn litter is that it doesn't stick to the bottom of the box. Stan has a habit of digging all the way down to the plastic, making a clay/pee cement mixture
, and that just doesn't happen with the corn.

So, long story short, the corn litter has so far been a success and once I'm through the 100lbs or so of Tidy cat (darn Target sales!!) I'll be looking for a feed store to get in on the Purina Layena...I am however worried about storing too much of this. I can see it being a serious rodent attraction or maybe getting moldy in the summer humidity?

I have only tried the regular WBCL, not the multiple cat.

This is really good feedback from everyone.

We have been using only WB for two days now.
Dexter has surprised me by modifying his box scratching technique.
He is more gentle with the lighter weight WB now.
Although we have the inevitable tracking, which I can easily live with, there is no corn storm.
I am very proud of my boy.

Sadie is more hesitant.
Although she is using the box....
she dosen't bury her poo.
When I got up this morning....
her poo sculpture was left standing on top of the yellow corn in all it's glory.

I think that, as she becomes more secure with the WB texture,
she will bury her business.

I have been watching to see if their pink paws and white fur became stained by the yellow corn but so far...
its been no problem at all.

I am so relieved that we found an exellent option to dusty clay.

As far as the summer humidity, we use a little baking soda in ours all the time and that helps, but if the humidity is really bad, I found those litter crystal things help as they absorb the humidity before the litter does

I had not thought about humidity being an issue.
Did you discover that high humidity affected WB?
What did it do to the litter...
make it damp?

I can see that might be a problem.

Hmm, I never thought of humidity getting into the litter before, does stand to reason though. That would be really gross having a big bag of moldy litter!
Perhaps stick to small bags in the summer? I put mine into plastic totes and have never had a problem.

About 2 years ago, maybe 3 now, Dori was having troubles that the vet suspected as being asthma. They suggested switching to WB. I went through gradually switching from the clay litter I was using to the WB. As soon as the mixture was a little over half WB and half the old, Dori began using my clothes basket as a litter box. I tried for a coupleof weeks after that, but she simply refused the new litter. I have been using A&H fragrance free, which is less dusty ever since. I wish I had been able to get her accustomed to the WB though. I am not extremely happy using the clay litter...

Lei, I am so glad that Sadie & Dexter seem to be taking to it
I know this will help put your mind at ease as far as the asthma goes
I have all the confidence in your sweet girl that she will get the hang of burying soon
