Hi,

My name is Tara, I'm Canadian but I live in Belgium with my partner. I love animals and I had always wanted a cat, so as soon as I got a place of my own I adopted Chloe, who has been my best friend and companion ever since. Trixie, my second cat, is a little foundling (someone put her in a restaurant tip when she was about 4 weeks old), and I gave her a home because I thought Chloe would like the company and she really really needed one.
Trixie was very ill when we first met (the poor little thing had spent the weekend out in the cold alone, crying for her mommy) and it has taken years to socialize her, but I think she is finally beginning to think of me as her friend.
They have incredibly different personalities. Chloe is extremely demanding, curious, absolutely fearless and loves to be cuddled and held. Trix on the other hand is shy, playfull and loves showers.

Hi, Tara
Welcome to TCS. What part of Canada did you come from?
Its very rewarding to take in a foundling kitten. Blossom, my 6 m/o kitty was dumped & my son brought her home & I handraised her. She's a wild child but coming round. She gives me cuddles every morning.
Looking forward to hearing more about your kitties.

Thank you all for a very warm welcome. I'll try to take some pics of my girls.
I think that anyone would take in Trixie under the circumstances, (I had already half made up my mind to get another cat - and one presented herself to me, I'm sure anyone would have done the same thing). I will never understand the people who could put such a defenseless animal in a tip and walk away and leave them for dead.
When I came home, she was hiding under the sofa and when I looked at her, she was no bigger than my hand and had green gook running from her eyes, ears and nose, and she had to go straight to the vets. He prescribed about 3 pills, and every kind of drop imaginable (except nose drops, there wasn't a brand that had a small enough dropper).
Because of their cruelty she had the cat equivalent to bronchial pneumonia and breathed like Darth vader for the first two years of her life. She still wheezes if the weather is cold or after an active play session.
I think socializing her would have been easier if we hadn't had all these meds to administer just as she was getting to know us and right after what was obviously an incredibly traumatic experience.
But persistance does pay off, and she's a lovely animal. I have not once regretted taking her in.

Welcome Chloe, Trixie, and Tara

to TheCatSite and bless you for rescuing little Trixie when she needed it so desperately! Thank you for caring, and opening your heart and home to her and Chloe. As you can see, we love multi-cat families here -- all 9 of us are rescued, indoor-only and spayed/neutered, and we're the lights of our Meowmy's eye! You may also notice her screen name, which is in honor of her own beloved Tara, who left us last year way too soon, due to complications of a chronic upper respiratory infection and and abscessed tooth. She was and will always be beloved of us!

We'd love to see pictures of Chloe and Trixie if you want to share; and hope to see you around on the forums a lot!
