Should mom move out same day as kittens?

I've posted a few times about a stray pregnant cat that showed up on our doorstep. She had her kittens and they are going to be leaving at the end of this week (9 weeks old) to go to another foster home while they are spayed/neutered, then off to their forever homes (except the one who we are keeping, and possibly one who is not adopted yet).

My parents are taking the mom cat. I understand that the mom cat may be upset once the kittens are gone, and that it will take a few days for her milk to dry up. Would it be better for her to move her to my parents house at the same time the kittens leave? Or would it be even more traumatic? I wouldn't want her to associate her new home with losing the kittens, either, though that may be a stretch. LOL

Is there any reason to wait a few days after the kittens are gone? Does it matter either way?

That is a really hard question. Is the momma getting spayed at the same time as the babies? On one hand I would think that she could go to her new home after her spay, to recover in her new home-providing it is a calm home. On the other hand you may want her to come back to a place she is familiar with to recover.
Ohhhh, I'm no help...this would be very hard for me too!

i have always been told not to take all the babys away from the mum all at once. and if the mum will be an only cat then it might be a good idea to keep the mum with one of her babys and home them as a pair. but thats just mo

I think XxtashaxX is right. I think taking all the babies at once would be pretty traumatic, along with her move, her spay, etc.
I also want to say how good it was of you to take in a pregnant stray.

WOW this is tuff. I had Skittles and all her kittens fixed at 9 weeks and kept together another 3 weeks all did fine no infections and in the 3 weeks all weaned themselves and became independent. Is there a reason to take them from mom at 9 weeks.

Maybe it is a good idea to keep 1 with mom so she dont get depressed.
