an ice cube in Iowa...
Hugs to you, Jen.

A rather exciting and anxiety-ridden stage of your pregnancy...looks like you're nearing the end. Now, just don't hold out on us like Skittles did last year...that would send us all into a frenzy!!!

Okay, partially because I just can't believe anyone would do this to a kitten (even though I know better, but don't want to believe it), you might want to post a notice that a kitten was lost.. knowing my little Marbled Menace.. and the Tiny Terrorist before that... and the adults I have currently... they are all quite adept at getting into a box, even if the box is what I consider to be locked down .. I've sealed off boxes (I thought) with tape and everything, and those little buggers still manage to get in there (I'd left one tiny opening, about an inch long, tape free). If she was really little, they might have not even known she was in there and picked up the box to take to the dumpster. I mean, you'd think she'd cry, but there is the off chance it was a mistake and an inexperienced kitty owner would never think that that could have happened.

Given my mob, it's the first place I'd look, but.. my mob is a little crazy.

I want you to be able to keep that darling, but I also don't want to believe people are so rotten.

How can anyone be so desensitized to what would happen to a kitten tossed in a dumpster? I mean, that's the same as taking a sledge hammer to them, only leaving it to someone else to do their dirty work. How incredibly awful!!

Okay, sorry, rant over (for the moment). Just one last UGHHHHHHHHHHHH!

i know it is hard to belive i agree , but with an ampty box wouldnt you feel something in there? anyway i will try with the posters just in case. thanx

LOL trust me Abby doesn't want to stay in LOL. can ya beleive it has been almost 1 year. WOW

I know this is a long shot and I might piss someone off but a poster might be a great idea. I know here kids are not perfect heck mine are far from it and some are down right mean and it is possable they tossed the kitten in the trash just to bully the poor thing. It is a thought.

Well, you'd think they would, but I have to say that I have picked up boxes (or bags, even), more than one at a time, or even when we had Gypsy (she was teeny)..and not even realized that something was in them because I had something else in my hands too. Fortunately, I double check everything before I throw it away.. cause..I would have *never* known she was in there. Could just depend on what angle it's picked up at, what else they might have been carrying.

Yeah, if you put something up, just say, kitten found in such and such a neighborhood.. and list a phone number. I wouldn't give a description except to say that she was approximately this age, this weight, and you'll need a verification of her coloring/markings when they call. If someone has lost a kitten.. I imagine they'd call. On the other hand... you don't think someone who got rid of it would still contact you, do you? I can't imagine that they would.

On the other hand.. maybe you ought to just keep her where you know she's safe. I can't imagine they'd call, but it might be the partner of someone who adopted her who decided they weren't keeping her.. or the parents of some child who might contact you, and then the parents might get rid of her again. I think I worry too much... of course, those situations are probably very slim chances.. so I don't know.

Hey - what's wrong with 13 cats (mom of many says with a knowing grin)!?!?!?

I've never heard of a kitten put in a box and then in a dumpster without malicious intent. People do that about once a year in front of the humane society dumpster around here. It's absolutely sick and you hope you find them in time.

You are an angel for rescuing this adorable little girl!!!

I do have to admit I dried Taffy before but only for a few sec. I was putting clothes in the dryer and he climbed in it. I did not know I turned it on. Less then a min later The thump was awful so I turned it off to get it out thinking it was the Downey ball. It was Taffy he ran out so darn fast. Now I look but the cat has yet to learn we have to keep the door shut to that and the washer or he will be asleep in one of them for sure.

If they put the kitten in the box, closed the box down, and then put the box in the dumpster, it's obviously malicious. But, it is possible that it could have been an accident. For the sake of mankind and so forth, I'd really rather it was an accident.

seems like this was deliberate. thank u tasha 4 taking her in am glad u r keeping her shes gorgeous!!

heres my thoughts neway...i think u should put the posters up cos sometimes neighbourhood kids can do this sort of sick thing 2 other peoples cats especially kittens that are just startin 2 b let out as they can be easy 2 catch... ive had some sick person who was hangin peoples cats up in trees by the neck and mutilating them in trees that r in places so the owners found them as they walk past. Its just pure evil.

neway on a lighter note...id reccomend giving her a bath with shampoo 2 try and kill some fleas other than that u jus hav 2 w8 4 the vet and get advantage or advocate. I like her name but as soon as i read ur thread i thought DESTINY was just perfect 4 her. She looks like a calico / tortie and white - same thing i think. Congratulations on ur newest addition!! so glad u rescued her...just doesnt make sense why ne1 would actually box and BIN a kitten they dont want?!!? when i worked at the vets we had a boxed kitten left on our doorstep one morning....but the BIN..thats just disturbed

I am so glad that you are keeping her, I kinda had a feeling that you was thinking hard about it.

And Chloe is a beautiful name too.

yea , im in the middle of doing the posters now .with the flees i might hold of for now as i cant seem to find a single one, i dont really wanna bath her unless i really have to.
oh and with the tumble dryer thing , i always have to check mine before shutting them , about 3 of mine look to nose around in them while im putting washing on so im always carfull, but i will admit once or twice i have second guessed myself and gone running down to it just to check heart pounder at what i might find , its a horrible felling , but so far its never happend , i think im more carfull is because i had a m8 phone me up in tears , she had started loading up her washing machine , went up staires to get the rest came down finshed loading it up then turned it on , she came down the next morning opened her washing machine , well this poor 6 month old kitten was there. i felt so heart broken for her. so since then i double check always.

You probably know this already but I know you have a lot on your plate at the moment with new kittens and all! Wet some kitchen towel so it's just damp, hold the kitten you rescued over it, and give her a good combing with a fine-toothed comb - if she has fleas the flea dirt will fall onto the wet towel and the dried blood in it will moisten and spread out to form a pinkish spot. That should give you an indication as to whether she needs flea treatment or not

Fortunately, you were on her path.

Wish that sick monster who left her there was never born himself. If only his own mother had done this herself to him when he came to this world, without anyone finding him, the world would be a better place.

God bless you Tasha

Yes, it's a pretty sick individual that would deliberately take an innocent kitten and lock them into an area where they had absolutely no way to escape a horrid and especially painful death. I mean, I know it happens, but.. it's so hard to believe that anyone could do this to a kitten.

I mean, I guess in a way, by being a meat eater, I do this type of thing indirectly to cows and chickens... but.. you know, there's a little disassociation there because I'm not the one looking that animal in the eyes and *then* putting it to a deliberately painful death. I could never do it to some darling tiny fluffy baby that looked trustingly into my eyes and adored me. I just don't get it.
