You really do NOT want any cat that is labelled "tiny" - cats range from about 4-5 lbs for Singapuras to 18-20 for the Maine Coons/Ragdolls. So under 4-5 lbs would be a runt and you don't want to be breeding runts to produce smaller kittens.

There are many breeds that are lap cats and in your face - the rexes (devon or cornish), the Singapuras, Burmese are a few.

I have two ragdolls that are huge....a 4 pounder would be *tiny* compared to them. Thank you for your reply

Oriertal breeds are generally under 10 lbs .... I do know some siamese that are over 15lbs but most are 8-10

I'm ALL for the Persian. There are some that are less friendly but I found over all the Persians to be a wonderful friendly sort. I'd search long and hard to be sure though. Female Persians are smaller than the males typically.

I think the lap friendly affectionate part depends how much the kittens are handled by the breeder and every cat has their own personality. And as for tiny the Singapura is the smallest cat breed.

I agree, my cats have totally different personalities. They are both Siamese and Neko is 9-10 pounds while Willie is not full grown and at 8 months only weighs 5 pounds. Neko is very friendly and follows me everywhere once I'm settled on a couch he will come and lay on me but if you place him on your lap he will jump off and he is easily disturbed by your movements when he is on your lap. he is shy around strangers in our house but will eventually get used to them enough if they are here a while but prefers if they do not touch him. Willie on the other hand will follow me everywhere and always want to be held. He is a shoulder cat so he likes to hand over my shoulder and rub my head with his face (and clean my ear yuck!). When strangers come over he runs over to them and rubs them or jumps on their shoulder (which frightens out guests) and likes to be in the middle of everything. I know when our breeder had Neko's litter his wife had a premature baby soon after they were born, the baby was at the hospital and so was the breeder, so he may have not had much time for them. Willie on the other hand had there full attention.

But I think most Siamese are very affectionate cats and tend to bond to one person more than the others. They are not the smallest but are not huge either.

Burmese are very affectionate lap cats... and they run on the small side (female is 6-8 lbs, but they look smaller because of all the muscle they have). They also are more rare than Siamese, since I remember reading that you were looking for something more exotic (I think it was you).

I have pics of my sable Burmese if you want to see... they're definitely lovebugs! Bossy lovebugs...

It seems there are always exceptions - Bijou is 16+ lbs. and is not really overweight - he's extremely muscular. Mika (his full sister from a later litter) is tiny at 8+ lbs.

As for temperament - they both have a wonderful disposition but Bijou is by far the most affectionate, in-your-face of the two. He needs his little suckle on my neck every night before laying on my pillow with his paws on my neck.

I think it really just depends on the individual cat and not really to any specific breed how cuddly they are. (I'm not a breeder but that is just my own personal feeling/opinion.)

I don't know much about breeds but I have a Bombay cat and she is pretty much like a dog, she follows me around, is a good lap cat and unfortunately they like to sleep with their owners. The range from 8 to 10lbs but they are so compactly built that they look small. http://www.fanciers.com/breed-faqs/bombay-faq.html I've got two cats and if I ever got another it would be another Bombay.
