That's awful! I don't understand how anyone could do such a thing!

That is horrible. I heard of another, similar case a long time ago. A man appeared on a tv show (maybe Oprah?) and talked about his childhood. He was one of 4 or 5 kids, but the only one abused. The parents would force him to sit on the basement stairs and watch the rest of the family eat at the table and discuss their day, but never give him any food. If he spoke, he was beaten, etc etc. I don't know how anyone can do that to a child. What is WRONG with people?

This world today is so scary, and no child/person should be treated like this.

I remember him, if you can stomach it, read his book...It's called "The Boy Called It" His mother did horrible things to him, I remember reading it and wondering how anyone could treat their child that way. I cried and cried all the way through that book.

People disgust me. I hope these people never see daylight again.

That's so sad. That poor, poor little girl. What's worse is that she was singled out from the rest of her family - I mean, all of those children will be psychologically damaged, but she will be the most in need of help.

Her mother is a doctor?? Well, just goes to show that not all doctors are humanitarians, too. It's so odd, that they would just focus on her and seemingly look after their other children just fine.

But I would imagine that there'll be problems with all of them - hopefully things can be fixed for those children that they won't grow into adulthood with serious, unfixable issues from all this.

This is really sad, I hope the parents never get any of the children back.

I wonder where the real mother was

There is a special place in Hell for the both of them, and if they just think the little girl was treated bad, wait until they go to jail. I have heard stories about what happens to people who hurt or abuse children. They will get what is coming to them.

C'mon people, it's 2007, not 1807.

Maybe social services needs a program for ALL parents-to-be that's a "Here's how to avoid getting your child in Foster Care".

I am really confused about what year it is that has to due with what they did to this child. I just don't understand what you are trying to say.

Ever read the book, Sybill? Sally Fields played the part in the movie.

The things done to children is so horrible I can't wrap my mind around it.
Sometimes I actually think that is is better that they die, then they are in Heaven and happy. I pray every day for children like this.

I don't believe that it is actually uncommon for only one child to be singled out for this type of abuse.

As others have mentioned the book "A Child Called It" by Dave Pelzer, this kind of thing has happened before. At least in this situation, all four children were apprehended (sp??) because in Dave's experience, the other children were left with the abusive mother.

I pray that these children can be safe at last.

No I don't believe it is either.

It sounds like in the article that her siblings treated her bad too although that may be
the case I think they probably felt intimidated and scared...they were only young.

I know my two sisters feel a lot of guilt for what my mother did to me,but I don't love
or care for my sisters the way I 'normally' should. My mother damaged that bond
beyond repair.

I just hope all them kiddies find a loving home together where they can build those
bonds together.
