Europe and the US didn't have the same DST dates anyway. I remember calling my mum to find out the 5 hour difference was now 6 and I had woken her up! All way too complicated!

I have given up trying to remember DST for NZ, so now I just calculate it as within 3 hour range to allow for DST either way.

I am angry for 3 reasons:

1. What exactly is the point?

2. I have to be at this place tomorrow at 8:30, which will feel like 7:30, which will feel like death.

3. My iPod clock is programmed wrong, and since it's not a computer, it's now programmed wrong forever and ever amen.

I never have understood how DST saves energy. There's still the same AMOUNT of daylight every 24 hours (unless someone convinced Mother Nature to add an hour? NOT), so what difference does it make what time the clock says? You just use the lights at a different time. Long summer evenings are nice, but at this time of year, what the heck is the difference whether you use lights more in the morning or in the evening?

Off to finish doing the patches for my computer and PDA -- nuisance!

Are they not putting patches out for them? (I don't have an iPod, so I'm totally clueless about them).

That's what I've been trying to say for the past several years.

I have changed the clock on mine before after it reset itself, you should be able to change it!

My understanding of DST was that it was mainly for the farmers. They would receive an extra hour of sunlight to work in per day to produce more goods. Thats what the farmer side of my family always told me.

Then they kept DST around for the students...something about screwing up bus schedules etc, if they stopped DST.

Personally I think the money that we're saving in energy costs all got spent on the programmers that had to write the code for the new DST.

lionsrampant - plug your iPod into your computer and download the latest patches...that'll take care of your clock issue.

Oh, wait, I think I remember this part. Except I think they went 1 year with DST ALL YEAR, and decided it was too dangerous for the kids walking to school cause it was still dark at 8 a.m. It was in the 1970s I think...And I think Nixon was President...

Yea! That's its!! Good memory!

I think I confused the bus thing with starting school later since students are more alert later in the morning.

I agree with that I dont know why we ever did it although them starting this earlier is actually giving my mom more time to drive (she can only drive in daylight) So it will be less rush rush for everything u know ! But I did understand this DST a lil bit, I gotta change so much..I wonder if our cable box is gonna change

also i have a computer that my school gave me (my labtop) they sent us all emails letting us no that we aare more then likely going to have problems because of DST being earlier this year
o man am I gonna be confused...and tired tomarrow
I hope I can get back on shedule with everything tho

I used to hate DST in the summer when my kids were little...they seemed to think that they only had to sleep when it was dark. Good think I don't live in Alaska or northern Great Britain! LOL

I love daylight saving!!! I love the evenings when I can get home from work and still have plenty of daylight to go for a walk, or just enjoy the sunshine. It always makes me happy

When I went to Ireland in February, it was very disconcerting to not have the sun rise until 9am.

Oh yea! My computer, cell phone, cable box and caller ID all changed by themselves. Of course, I still have to change 5 bazillion clocks and watches, and my pager....

Im kind of happy about it. I have horses, and I usually ride in the late afternoon. Lately it's been getting dark before I'm even done. But now with the extra hour of light I have more time before Im stuck in darkness.
