Here it is. I currently have 3 indoor cats, all short haired, and all "fixed". Two females and one male. The cats are all on a "natural" diet recommended by my veterinarian. The girls have wonderful, sleek coats that rarely shed and need little care. Martin, on the other hand, sheds excessively and has dandruf. I've been doing a lot of reading on this. I was saddened to discover that neutered males tend to have more skin and coat issues than spayed females. I'm quite sure he's missing something from his diet, but am not sure what would be the best thing to supplement for both the dandruf and excessive shedding (yes he is brushed daily). I also have an organic shampoo that I use on him. It does help with the dandruf, but not much for the shedding (although his coat is definately smoother than it has been). I am wondering if anyone else has dealt with this isssue? What supplements have helped?

p.s. Martin is black. Joy joy! Black hair everywhere!

I'm wondering about the vets "natural diet" as well. Do you have a naturalpathic vet? I wish I could find one of those here!

I would recommend the Missing Link powder-I use it on all 8 of my kitties-4 of which are neutered males and I do not have a single problem with shedding or dandruff. I first noticed a big change when we brought Dusty home. He was a stray that was dirty, and completely covered in matts and burrs from being out on the plains. After only 2 weeks his coat turned from wirey and course to sleek and soft-he is now one of our most handsome kitties! I am always getting compliments on just how nice his coat looks. Missing Link is an all natural product as well, since I see you tend to like all naural products-good for you! It can be a little expensive-here in CO. it is roughly $13-16 for a 1 pound bag, but I have found it cheaper if you go through Foster and Smith. Good luck!

To answer the questions about the natural diet: I feed my cats 75% meat and then give them a veggie mix that I've made myself. I puree some veggies, add vitamin E, flax seed, and bran for the cats. They really seem to enjoy their food. As for the fish oils I can't give them to Martin as any fish products tend to give him a UTI. Yes my vet is a homeopathic veterinarian which is really nice.

Add olive oil then ;_).. FYI salmon oil is not likely to aid i uti development ...

What raw supplement are you using ???

Are you using organ meats... ...I ask cause the looks a touch incomplete as a diet
