A friend of mine has a kitten, about 5 months old, male. Who has a small lump on his throat. It is about the size of a dime and just under his jaw on the right side of his throat. When he bends his neck a certain way it is easier to feel then at other times. The kitten seems normal in any other ways. Puked up some worms so was just recently dewormed and vaccinated. Eats normal, plays normal, is a little thin but I think he is the runt and the other kittens were eating before he could.

Any thoughts??? What is this lump? I said he needs to go to a vet of course but in the meantime...

Flowerbelle used to get cyst like things. The first time she had one they thought it was - I forgot what kind of parasite. They surgically removed it - it only needed a couple of stitches. But it turned out to be.... darn. I just can't remember what the heck it was called, I'm so sorry. But the vet gave us a cream to put on it. Of course we had to wrap her - around the neck once, around the tummy once - but fortunately she stopped having the problem. But she developed three of these things over a 1 1/2 year period and then no more....

The only thing that I've had experience with would be a swollen gland, i.e. due to some infection going on...but maybe I'm misunderstanding the exact spot that it's in on your friend's kitty.
