Last year, Home Depot was to install carpet in 2 of our rooms. They called ar 8:20 AM, to confirm that they'd be there between 3-6 PM that day. At 7 PM, I called the answering service (Home Depot sub-contracts out), and left, shall we say, a rather pointed message (!). Around 8:20 PM, some guy calls and says they can be there "Immediately." I asked hubby to ask HIM what HIS idea of "Immediately" was (hubby didn't ask). 55 minutes later, I again had to call the company (they must monitor the messages), and finally they arrived at 11:00 PM (yes, PM), and left at 1:20 AM (yes, AM). As I was getting over a severe bout of flu, I wasn't exactly happy to have to move my bedroom furniture back into the bedroom upstairs! What gets me is, Home Depot sends you an online survey a month or so later, on which I explained my disgust; all they did was send a 15% off coupon for further installation services!!!!
I find this attitude is typical of these services--I just had to get a new heater installed (this has been going on since 2/6/07), and they ordered the wrong heater, so they installed the thing until they could get the other one, which took 1.5 weeks to get here...meanwhile, I'm using very expensive electric back-up heat, which doubles my bill...all because they messed up (they did offer to help out with the bill...and dang it, I'm holding to it!).
I hope your Terminix guy comes soon! I know it's maddening!
