DH just asked if we are exchanging gifts. I don't want the fact that I am not working keep us from celebrating. Traditional is paper. I can't go with Modern....long emotional story.

He reads books but he hasn't picked a new book yet.
Any thoughts?

On every anniversary, DH & I plant a tree. Not only is it good for the environment, we get to see the tree grow over the years. We'll be on our 16th tree this summer. (I know it's not traditional, but it works for us.)

I have no idea honestly, I'm trying to come up with a gift for our Second wedding anniversary...when is yours? Ours is the 19th of this month, it sure doesn't seem like its been two years!

It definately won't be a magazine subscription. He already receives 3 or 4 and never throws them away.

He is a musician. He plays bass.
If we had a house I would plant a tree.

Our anniversary is April 1st.

What's his fav music? Or his fav musician? Maybe you can print out some tabs from a song/musician that he really likes and has never had before. Print them out on some beautiful, quality paper and maybe frame them. I think that would be a nice idea....you know musicians....they (like us artists
) are a whole different breed....

Thank you so much! I got the idea because my son is also a musician and he's always looking up tabs for people like Santana or Eric Clapton. After he's learned the part though, the sheets of music just end up strewn all over his room. I just thought if CrazyForInfo would print them out on some awesome-looking paper and frame them, it would be a nice gift!

Glad you liked it Sadie'sMom!

(I'm adding this on afterwards):Wow...just thought of something else because of what I just posted myself.

What if you print out tabs to several songs that he likes and you make him a book of some sort with all of them...that'd be cool! Like a keepsake book of his fav music!

Cute Natalie! The puurrrfect all-occasion gift!

I was thinking (again) about the sheet music idea. Has he ever written/composed anything himself? Maybe if he's got it somewhere (like in a spiral notebook or just pieces of paper laying around) you can take them and either make copies on some great paper and make him something with them. If its things you've ''saved out of the trash can'' (like I'm always doing with my kids...I've got a big collection of stuff!!!)
you can use them to make a display for him...or a scrap book with them.

Back to the scrapbook idea...do you have ticket stubbs from movies or places that you've been to together? You could make him a memory book out of them...that'd be sweet too.

Good luck hun!

Tabs...as in 'guitar tabulature' (I think that's how its spelled)

Tabs are for people (like my son) who can play music by ear...but they don't know how to actually read music. Tabs are a way that shows you where to place your fingers on the instrument...step by step...so you can learn whatever you're trying to play! Its pretty cool really and seems to be an easy way to learn for those who can't read music. There are tabs for piano and drums too I believe!

I just asked DH and he said:
"normally music is written in notation form. (the dots and lines) tabs are a lazy way of reading music. instead of dots, they tell what fret number to hold. if you look at my guitar magazines, they use tab. "

hmm I might have to rip some of his magazines up. lol
