I'd like to have my own custom avatar and someone told me that I can now (I think they said you had to have maybe 400 posts to be able to do that). Anyway, when I click on UserCP and try to Edit my avatar...I don't know how to add my own...? All I get is the 19 avatars that are available to me on this site. What do I have to do to use my own?

If you look lower down in that section there is a box with options for 'Custom Avatar' - I´ve copied the details here..........so just enter what you want to do and then save changes - Good Luck

If you have a custom avatar and want to keep it as it is, leave the fields below as they are.

Use Custom Avatar

You may upload a new custom image using the controls below.

Option 1 - Enter the URL to the Image on Another Website
Option 2 - Upload Image From Your Computer
Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 50 by 50 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller).

You need to have been a member for 120 days in addition to at least 700 posts before you can have a custom avatar. You can see the usergroups sticky here: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=20

A-ha! That's the clincher then...although I have enough posts...I haven't been a member long enough. Ok...I understand now...

Wow... I know I'm a newbie here so my opinion won't carry much weight, but that criteria for being able to have an avatar is incredibly excessive. This is actually the first forum I've ever been to where there's been any criteria whatsoever. What was the reason for having it this way?

I can't speak for the mods and admins, but I think they're just used as perks for people to really be active on the forum. Kind of as rewards I suppose.
