Cat Rescue! :D

Since I've been here all day waiting for the police to bring a dog, I decided to record a short video and show it to you guys.


I wasn't sure where to put this thread.

This is just the main centre, where pretty much all the adoptable cats are. The room where the video ended is the office, where I am now.

Don't mind the floors, we painted the cement, but atfer daily mopping, it wears down and looks like crap.

How many are there? I've never seen so many kitties in one location before!!

It looks like they have a lot of places to romp about and play, and toys galore.

Look at all those toys. They are spoiled. Oh I loved the kittens sleeping together on the window. And the couch....you can't see a couch b/c of all the kitties napping together.

I got up to 15, then I lost count!!!! They have so much space - so many rooms and beds and stuff to play with - you are doing the most fantastic job there!! They look very contented there!!

They have the odd disagreement every day.. but very rarely do we ever get a major fight.

Pretty much the cats that don't like the other cats will stay away from them, but sometimes they purposely aggrivate them.


The one that is running ahead of me through the whole video, thats Jake. He's my lovebug.

Thats not even the whole centre!
We also have a kitten room, which is pretty much empty right now, then we have 2 rooms for dogs, and upstairs used too be an apartment, but it's now for the special needs kitties.

We try and make it as much like a home as we can for them, because some of them will live the rest of their life there. To me, euthanizing a cat just because it pee's outside of the litterbox, is just cruel.

EDIT : We do about 8 loads of laundry a day. Everything gets washed. blankets, toys.
Then everything is wiped down with bleach water.
Floor is swept and vacuumed and mopped. Doing that in the whole centre, it's about a 7 hour clean.
We go through about 2 bottles of bleach a day.. depends on the size of the jug.
40lbs of litter each day, and about 25lbs of food.

Wow, look at all those cute kitties!

How many volunteers are there - that's a lot of work!

Sunday-Friday theres about, 4 or 5 of us.
Saturday there is like, 8 or so.

What a great video! So many darling kitties and they do look very content. I like how it is all set up like a real house for them. Piles and piles of kitties.

We try to set it up like that as best as we can.
