We have been feeding a stray for about 8 months now and she turned up pregnant last week. I first noticed then when picking her up. Her nipples were enlarged and pink when I looked. I took her to my vet and he said that she was too far along to spay so we have taken her into our home and our kitty family. After she has weaned her kittens she will be promptly spayed. We have 3 other kitties (kept separately and all spay/neutered). We have called the pregnant kitty Butterball ever since she started coming by our house. She is a black and white tuxedo cat with medium hair. The vet said she looks to be about 1-2 years old and in pretty good health from what he could tell (she also didn't have fleas or earmites which surprised me). I will take a few pics of her and post them soon. The vet said to expect her kittens in the next 2 weeks. This is my first time having a pregnant pet so this is all new to me. I plan on doing some reasearch on what to expect. This site is going to help me out a lot!

Congratulations!!
I recently had a litter of seven so let me know if you have any questions. Although there are more seasoned kitty experts here than me!

Hi,
My son just brought home a "kitten" which appears to be a small momma-to-be. She is also a tuxedo. This is a great site with lots of helpful people. I can't wait to see your pictures and will post mine soon.

Butterball I love it
Well looks like a few will be having Saint Patrick's Day Litters. Well this is the right site to be at. We here can all help which am sure you already know being a member here anyways. Are you sure she isn't some one else's pet. I mean if she isn't that girl is lucky to have no fleas or to even be in good shape. I hope she does adjust well with you and the fur kids keep us posted.

Welcome to the TCS Pregnant Cats and Kitten Care Forum ... we have a lovely program here where you can have a Pregnant Cat Buddy if you would like one - the Buddies all have experience with going through a pregnancy, raising kittens and spaying/neutering the babies and are a welcome relief to many. Let me know if you are interested and I can hook you up with a Buddy!

Again, welcome to TCS! We look forward to hearing more about you and your little Momma-to-be!

I'm pretty sure that Butterball doesn't have a home elsewhere. She was always at my house promptly for breakfast and dinner and she would sleep every night under my shed in the back yard. When my daughter plays in the back yard she follows her around everywhere. No more outside for this kitty though. She is a welcome addition. She is very sweet. I'm sure she had a home and probably when she came into her first heat her owners let her go. She's my responsibility now though. I always thought that she must have been fixed since in the 8 months that I fed her she never got pregnant until now. I was wrong on that count! You can't tell when outdoor kitties go into heat either.

I will take a photo of her tonight and post it tomorrow. Unfortunately, I don't have a PC at home so I can only get on here during the day. I will definitely take lots of photos once the babies are born!
Thanks for all the replies and welcomes!

Gayef, I would LOVE to have a pregnant cat buddy! Please set me up.
