We had a thread about this guy awhile back. Finally the verdict I always wanted to hear! It doesn't begin to compare to what he put Jessica Lunsford through, but at least he's found guilty!

Thank God that dirty scum is going to prison, or hopefully to his death - Although personally I think rotting in jail is much better justice that killing him.

I'm glad that girls family can at least now get some peace that their daughter's killer will now never see the light of a free day again.

I'm as anti-death penality as it comes, but this guy makes me think that I should change my opinion.

If there is an argument for the death penalty, this man is it, IMO. And I'll be happy to flip the switch.

They were talking about this on Fox when I was at lunch, and they said that Jessica's father glared at him every day in court. Then the legal analyst said that could be grounds for a mistrial because it could have been prejudicial to the jury. If this creep can get off on such an insignificant thing, there is something very wrong with our legal system!

Justice is served. Now we await the Judges sentencing, that is a big hurdle.

I've been watching this trial on "Court TV".
I wouldn't say that Jessica's Father glared at him, he would look at him once in a while...but if he had glared who could blame him???

Couey..did I spell that right?...sat there the whole time coloring in a coloring book...I'm sure that was a ploy to make people think he has a mental problem and to make the jury have sympathy for him.
Just watching that man ( if that what you want to call him ) made my skin crawl.

If that happened, OMG there is a serious problem with our system! What a sick sick man! Death is too good for him!

A friend of mine's SIL manages the car wash that the surveillance camer that showed this jacka** taking Jessica was filmed on. He said he still has nightmares about when he viewed it and saw that they had inadvertedently recorded the kidnapping. But they sure were glad they looked at the tapes daily, else who knows how things might have went.

40 out of 50 States have passed Jessica's Law. What is wrong with those other 10 states?

He buried that poor little girl alive, how horrible.

She is in Heaven now though and happy.

Me too - except death row is probably the safest place on earth for him. If he were in population - well, who knows what might happen...

Florida isn't hesitant about flipping the switch on these kinds of creeps. Let's just hope that he doesn't string it out as long as Ted Bundy did.

Are you sure you're not thinking about another case? The Carlie Brucia case? Jessica Lunsford was taken from her home; Carlie was abducted off the street in front of a car wash.

Thanks for that. I realized she was thinking about another case, got distracted, and forgot to google "car wash", "abduction" and "murder".

I don't believe in the death penalty but I think I might be able to make an exception in his case.

Even if he gets life he more than likely won't live long, the other inmates will probably take care of him...unless of course they don't put him in with the general population.
He won't be put in general population. That would basically be the same as giving him the death penalty.

His lawyers are saying that he's mildly retarded (which he's been playing to the hilt by drawing perty pick-tures all through the trial), so he should be spared based on the Supreme Court Ruling that it's cruel and unusual punishment to execute someone who is mentally handicapped. Obviously the prosecutors have a different opinion.

If they put people that are on Death Row is solitary confinement, how is it that Jeffrey Dahmer got it? I have always wondered that.

From what I understand that was a "mix up". He was "supposed" to have a guard with him at all times.

I heard that they didn't put the dad on the stand b/c of a possible mistrial. They say he was glaring at Couey. I would've been glaring too. He probably had thoughts of murder on his mind.

How long was his sentencing?

It hasn't been decided yet. Could be this afternoon or tomorrow.

So...Mark Lunsford was glaring at poor Mr. Couey???

Couey is lucky I wasn't in court--I'd have jumped over the railing and strangled him with his own tie!!! Never mind the consequences--and I never even met the Lunsford family!

That sadistic creep was found and arrested in Augusta, Georgia...a town I know very well, I only live about 36 miles from Augusta, and that's where the coward was hiding out...*shudder*

Yeah, Couey sounds "mentally challenged", all right. He got into a private home (while two adults were there, no less), took a sleeping child out of her own bed, got her into his house, (you all know what comes next, I can't even bring myself to say it), then he hightails it out of Florida and makes it to Augusta--sounds to me like all that took quite a bit of thinking and planning!!! The only thing wrong with him is that he's a sick, twisted, sorry excuse for a human being!

What I want to know, is why haven't those losers living with him also been arrested? Don't tell me they didn't know what was going on in that trailer!! There's no way they could not have known! They aided and abetted him, they looked the other way while he murdered that poor child, AND they helped him escape to Georgia. Talk about "accessory to murder"!!!

The whole thing is horrible, but the part that really haunts me is the fact that he buried little Jessica alive. How can anyone do such a thing to anyone else--but especially to a little girl like that?! Jessica had never in her life hurt a living thing...how could even a monster like Couey do something like that?!?

If Couey doesn't get the death penalty, I hope they let him loose in the general prison population. That crowd would happily give him what he deserves.

And I agree--it gives me the creeps just looking at him.

I guess you can tell this makes me very, very angry.

Well, you're right!!!
