Why would for-profit places want to help the mother either???? when they lose money if she changes her mind.
I always wonder how many times a scared and confused young girl is coerced into having an aborition by a) boyfriend b) parents c) the clinic people and not because it's what they want...but what they feel they HAVE to do.
I think that woman/girls should have to have all the information otherwise how can they know they are making the right decision if they don't have all the facts???
Yes, most, if not all, are for profit here. Many are run by nonprofit groups (like Planned Parenthood), but the clinics themselves are for profit.
I know someone who was a family member's friend that this happened to- her boyfriend's family wanted to adopt the baby, and her mother gave her a tranquilizer to help calm her down to go talk to the doctor, the girl said at the dr.'s office that if she couldn't get it done that day, she didn't want the abortion,. The doctor said he couldn't do it anyways because she had taken the tranquilizer, and yet her mother talked him into it that day, because it would have been "embarrassing to the family"(they ran in the "upper income" circles) to have a baby born out of wedlock.
And this isn't the first girl I've known to have this happen to her (the saving the parents the embarrassment thing). These poor girls have not had an easy go of it, even though they both have other children now. And at least one of the sets of parents aren't doing really well because of the guilt (it's obvious if you know the whole story). And these are just 2 people out of several I've met or known...
The more info, the better! It's not just your body- it's your mind and heart too. Any healthcare involves all three- why should this one be any different?
