My husband had this whole plan on going on this scavenger hunt at places that meant something to us... but he talked to his mom, who said she'd be mad and just want the ring, and decided that I might get mad too, so he
proposed with some grocery store roses the morning before we left to see family.
Oh well.. it's the thought that counts, right?
