Catsitting - better to keep Trout at home? Or send her to the exes?

I don't blame you for worrying. I worry when I go to work!

Trout will be much happier in her own territory. I would worry more about the ex. Trout might tear him to shreds.

And make sure he knows that if he messes up there are lots of us out here that can find ways to make him pay for his carelessness.

Yep, my problem would be finding Canada to find him

But that "gris gris" of mine can get him anywheres, I don't need to find him.

I have looked after people's feline friend here in the building while they are away, and have never had a problem. All of them were much better in their own environment.

If it were Bean I would have no problem bringing him to someone's house to be babysat. He doesn't mind new places at all, he see's it as an adventure. But if she's likely to get stressed out, she's probably better off at home.

I remember reading on here a few weeks ago (sorry to whoever's story I'm stealing to re-tell but I really can't recall how it came up so I can't quote you...) about how when they went away, for the first few days the person taking care of them reported that the cat really acted up and didn't seem their normal self. But then the owner started thinking about the cat and sending "happy thoughts" to the kitty and the cat really seemed to settle down at that exact same time. So if I were you I'd dedicate a bit of time while you're away to think about Trout and tell her that you're just away for a little while and that you miss her and you'll be back soon. I believe she'll hear you and understand, and either way it can't hurt and will make you feel better. (Hey, after reading that story sometimes when I'm sitting at work and feeling guilty about leaving them alone all day I send my thoughts to them too).

Cats are usually happiest in their own homes in familiar surroundings. I know Trout will probably be lonely, but she will be less stressed than if you took her elsewhere.

I would keep her at home if possible, she will already be missing you so the less stress the better.

I wish I lived closer, I would come and check on her, but that is a long drive when I finish work late

I wish I could find Canada, but Nat would be back home by the time I found it.

Well, if it helps, I could look in on trout if you wanted. I live in the same town. I can do it after work in the morning.

I think he's probably safe.... unless you run into them Canadians from Bristol and they take you with them.

Don't worry Belinda, there is NO WAY I could ever find you down there either
I might as well be a baby when it comes to directions and maps..
I am awful with that stuff..I can get lost in my own town...seriously, if I go over to the east end, I get lost

I would ask him to take Trout overnight before you go to see how it goes, and so she knows when she leaves there she is coming back to you. If she totally freaked out, then I would leave her at home, but either hire a petsitter or get another freind to come in when he was not. I wouldn't want to leave mine longer than 24 hours without someone cheking in, but that's me. They probably sleep the whole time anyway.
