We got her some kitten food. Even though we want to switch her to wet food, we got dry since she prefers that. The most important thing is that she's eating enough, right?

I read that at around 6 weeks most pregnant cats begin milk production. Is this true? If so, is there any way we can tell? She should be at around 6 weeks now. I just wish we knew, one way or the other. Just waiting to find out if she's pregnant or not is grating!

Thanks again for all your help.

And sometimes the big nipples will look a bit crusty, as if some milk seeped out.

Ahh, yes, that's what it was called - KMR. Once you are certain she is pregnant, try some of this to boost her vitamins and such up.

More photos!

Her belly was shaved about 6 weeks ago to check for a spay scar, so it's still a little bare.

She is absolutely gorgeous!!! In the UK, cats are mainly spayed on their sides, is there a chance she was spayed there and that is why the vet hasn't found a scar? I wouldn't like to say yes or no to her being pregnant, I dont have enough experience of pregnant cats.

its hard to say if she is pregnant just by the nipples , as with dark cats like black ones there nipples always look a little more prominint , and the fur always looks a bit more bare around them. i have a male and a female black cat i will try and take a pic to show you what i mean.

You folks are all terrifically helpful!

If I could I'd re-name this thread "Lumpwatch 2007" or something along those lines. Every morning we stare at Audrey's belly and try to figure out if it's bigger than it was the day before. It's so hard to tell! She's definitely got a belly on her, though, and I don't think it's worms. Nothing's come out since the second deworming, and she's not getting any smaller. We're pretty sure she's bigger.

In the last day or two she's started protesting more when we pick her up. You need to scoop her back end up right away because so much of her weight is distributed towards the back. She doesn't struggle, but she makes uncomfortable noises. We're trying not to lift her unless it's really necessary.

She also hasn't wanted to play at all this morning, and usually she demands that we throw her ball down the stairs over and over. She's being very quiet and sleepy. Lots of little noises instead of her usual noisy chatter.

My boyfriend was petting her belly this morning and thought he could feel some little lumps, though he said they could have just been muscles or something. She woke him up at around 7am by climbing onto his chest and lying there for pets for about half an hour.

We're pretty sure she's pregnant at this point, but we still don't know for sure. I've read that pregnant cats usually have taut or rigid bellies. Does that mean towards the back of her underside?

Thanks again for all the help! I'm trying to show my appreciation with frequent photos.

She is such a beautiful cat, just saw your new photos.
She really does look pregnant to me.
If you feel the need to pick her up, I used to carry Gabby upright very delicately. This is hard to explain but imagine carrying a cat where it had all four legs dangling down, so not on her back in your arms. I had to pick her up when she was naughty LOL.

The last week of her pregnancy Gabby chirped a LOT. That's another sign maybe to watch for although maybe it was just Gabby being her Gabbing self (she talked a lot).

Keep us updated!!

When you say chirp do you mean that soft little gurgling/crooning sound? Because that's her favorite noise right now.

We need to lift her when there might be someone at our door, because our landlord would not be happy about a cat. We're in Ontario, so technically there's nothing he can do, but we want to avoid unplesantness. I'll try what you mentioned the next time we need to move her.

And we agree that she's a very pretty kitty, but we're biased. We're excited for her coat to grow in all the way while she's eating a healthy diet, because she has the white tipping that Russian Blues get.

We're cleaning out our closer and going to get her a big box, just in case.

Good luck getting her to give birth where you want!

I have a walk-in closet which i lined with soft blankets and placed some of Gabby's favorite toys inside, along with her little laundry basket bed she would slumber in.

The day her water broke, she tore off to the bedroom and we were so proud thinking she was heading there. She went under the bed instead. I could not get her to come out. I tried my best to line the carpet but with her in labor under there it was not my best work. Then the family of 8 lived under the bed for 2 weeks.

DH moved to the spare room.

Gabby did not meow, she chirped, yipped a lot. She'd walk through the house chriping at nothing in particular. It was strange.

Hah! It's so hard to tell, you know? I'm trying to take photos spaced a few days apart for you folks, because I figure it's easier for you all to notice a change than it is for us, since we're around her every day. I'll post another set in the next day or two.

I did notice a very faint scar/discoloration on her belly the other day. At first I thought it might have been a spay scar, but it was more of a little blob shape than the result of an incision. Do cats end up with a light scar where their umbilical cords were attached? That looks like what it could be, but otherwise I imagine it's from a spay.

Audrey is settling in more and more. Last night she climbed into my lap and lay there for a good half hour while I worked on my laptop. She'll spend most of the day not being cuddly at all, and then suddenly decide that it's time for us to lavish her with attention.

momof3rugratz, how are you feeling? And what should I call you, btw? Your forum handle's a bit of a mouthful.

I am not sure they have a scar from it but I would think it is possable Didn't the vet check. If he did I would think he did a good job till we know for sure.

Yeah, what Jenny said - didn't he look for her scar?
Mine did not have a visible scar after several months but i'm sure it varies.

Keep posting us pics and we'll keep fretting along with you over Miss Audrey!
