Hello to everyone from this newby,
I am the proud companion to a crazy 13yr. old tabby. Recently he has become uncomfortable around his anus, including frantic cleaning and butt dragging. He looks clean and not red at all around the area. I don't know if his stool may be dry because his litter box is well used and cleaned regularly. He is fed senior Royal Canine. I thought to ask before we go off to his vet. This looks like a great site for help and chat. Thanks Sue

Sounds like impacted anal glands to me. A very uncomfortable feeling for poor kitty. And if you do not know how to express them, then a vet visit or a visit to a groomer will help ease the kitty's discomfort.

Thanks for that, its time for the vet anyway so he certainly will get checked. I would never have thought of that as I'[ve only associated that with dogs. Thanks again Sue
