I always feel like i am the only one who has an apartment/house in disarray.

The other morning, maintenance came to fix blinds..NO NOTICE mind you...i should have told them to sit on it...and my daughter's room is a MESS. I had just gotten up, not showered or even brushed my teeth. It's not that it was early, my daughter has been sick and i stayed up late so slept in...Her room is a mess, some friends came over and just dumped everything. I was mortified.

Reassure me here:

How many people would be embarrassed to have someone come to their house right now?

Right now, yes! There are dishes in the sink yet from breakfast and John's stuff from lunch is still sitting in the living room (plates, pop, ect), and the cats toys are ALL over.
I like to clean daily (well, I have the time since I'm unemployed....) but right now, I'm not in the cleaning mood. I clean during the week... weekends are a free pass for me

We're in the process of packing but that's not really an excuse. Let's see: there are cat toys littered over this living room right now, I have 3 files scattered over the kitchen table, my bed is not made, and I don't think my hubby cleaned the countertops as he put the dishes away so NOOO! Do NOT come over!!

I hate cleaning and tend to do the bare minimum. Its a blessing people come here a lot so I usually am forced to clean.

I have a much bigger problem personally than maintenance people seeing my messy house. And that is that is seems to be a rule that maintenace people always leave doors open so cats can get outside. This really makes me angry. I guess these maintenance people must always leave their front door open at home. And never have any animals. All right, already, I'll make the bed but shut the %$#@! door!

I would be mortified if anyone was to come over, we spent a couple of hours sorting and cleaning today (a semi Spring clean) but we have been so busy with work lately and by the time I am done working I just don't have the energy to clean

My place is generally in okay shape..Although, it is easier to not care sometimes because noone else sees the apartment.

At the moment, mine is better than usual! But you still cant see the kitchen table for the sewing machine, fabrics, etc. At least it doesn't smell!

Very embarrassed

I did actually vacuum today and I did do the dishes...actually I did a lot of cleaning today. But the house is still no where near "guest" appearances IMO. We have too much clutter.

Here... or There... Hmmm
That would be a HUGE ME!!!!! My husband is the worlds biggest pack rat and it bothers me but it also keeps family away so... hey, it's not bad at all!!!
It's just a lot of stuff as opposed to actual mess, but I'll live I guess!

We almost NEVER spend time in the living room, so it pretty much always looks nice. Just so long as our guests didn't come into the kitchen... or our bedroom... or just make that upstairs in general...

Our house is not bad right now. Of course, we are still in the process of moving so only have the bare necessities in right now so not too much clutter. I did sweep and dust yesterday...only because the insurance agent was coming over today and I HAD to! I HATE cleaning! I keep waiting for that darn maid to show up but she never does! Guess I'll have to fire her

I hate when people come over unannounced. Right now I'd be mortified. Laundry blowing out of the hamper, dishes piling up in the sink, floors in dire need of vacuming, yeah it's safe to say I'd be truely mortified.

well at least i'm not the only one. I think my problem is that i feel like i need to do it all at one time. I'm going to try to set a schedule to do things. I thought i would have all this free time when i went back to school...NOT!

i think we're here for a while. we've been here 2.5 years and before that 3 years. I live in an appartment but geez. I threw out a LOT of stuff before moving here and I still do. I understand why my mom used to toss out a lot of stuff. We just have too many things...or as i try to convince myself, not the right organisation yet..lol

I invite friends for dinner instead of going out, partially because it forces me to clean up. I'll admit, I care about what others think more than my own opinions, so having others over motivates me to clean up!!!
My worst enemy is all the crazy mail I get. Mostly advertisements and useless bank info. It clutters up my tables daily. If I don't open it, it accumulates into a huge pile in no time.
Another issue is that a few previous owners never officially changed thier mailing address at the post office, so I still get some of their junk mail. Grrrr. Stupid Golf magazines, etc.
I'm also really slow about putting laundry away in drawers. This clean laundry mess stays behind closed doors in the bedroom, however it drives my BF crazy when he comes over.
