That is horrible. Ironically, our Police Blotter mentioned in yesterday's paper that someone stole a dog from PetsMart where a local shelter was displaying him for adoption. Someone grabbed a leash from the display, hooked the dog up and walked right out.

There was the most amazing, adorable kitten at the deli downstairs that even I use to joke about taking. Someone actually stole the kitten from the deli! It was horrible, all the customers were upset as well! As soon as the animal becomes to much, they abandon them, or who even wants to think what!

You know, who steals a cat? Seriously, because they are so rare?
Some people should just pass go, and go straight to hell.

I saw this story on the news. I am actually mixed on my feelings. It's horrible and noone should be robbed. But those people were selling puppies for 2500 DOLLARS! Talk abour robbery! Who pays that much for a dog? I mean, it's so obvious they are not professional breeders. I say whatever. Never let a stranger come to your house. Hope they learned a valuable lesson.

I also pray that those dogs fall into safe and loving hands.

I can understand paing $2500 for a dog. Would I ever? No.

I'm NOT saying these people were reputable breeders, though.

Alot of facters go into pricing a puppy. The dogs genetic lines. The more pure they are, the more they are worth. Also depends on where dog comes from. I see german imported dogs going for $2500 easy. Because german lines are THE best. Especially for Rotties and German Shepherds.
Then birthing process and raising puts alot into it as well.
Small breeds like this often need C-sections because their heads are usually bigger than their bodies(also goes for big bully breeds). Also, smaller breeds, especially those with flat faces, are harder to raise.

I personally would never pay that much when I can get a mutt from the pound for $40. Or a rescue for a little more.

But I know plenty of people that are looking for show stock with champion lines, that are willing to pay that much for a dog.
So it all depends really.

If they were professional breeders ( which I said they weren't but I will reinterate myself ) they wouldn't be posting ads in the newspaper for them.

They were stupid and hopefully now they learned a valuable lesson. Breeding for profit can be hazardous to your families health. Also, don't invite strangers to your house!
