Have your cats tried the Eagle Pack canned food?

Here, they loved the Chicken and Lamb. They like the Duck and Oatmeal too.

The Turkey and Barley TANKED big time.
I wonder what was so yucky about it?
Must be the barley. It's the 5th ingredient.

Turkey & Barley Formula
Ingredient Listing: Turkey, Turkey Broth, Chicken, Chicken Liver, Barley, Dried Egg Product, Carrots, Peas, Potatoes, Guar Gum, Brewers Dried Yeast, Salt, Cranberry Powder, Flaxseed, Dried Kelp, Choline Chloride, Vitamins*, Minerals*, Carrageenan, Taurine, Yucca Schidigera Extract., Vitamins & Minerals

OT but slightly relevant. I had tried a new experiment last night. I put their dry food on top of my (very tall) dryer last night when I went to bed. It didn't look like much of it was missing, if any this morning. So, I had some hungry cats this morning. But they still turned up their little noses at this Turkey+Barley. I must say it doesn't sound good but they liked the others so much I didn't give it a second thought to try this one.

Eagle pack was another that wasn't popular with my crew, none of the flavors got eaten up
my crew likes the shredded consistency for the most part and the only kind that I can find like that is the Meow Mix pouches. little gremlins!!

My cats LOVE the EP canned food w/ 2 exceptions. Frankie doesn't like anything tune flavor so what ever they have with tune in it gets eaten but reluctantly. The other problem I have (which isn't a big deal just more costly) is that Frankie doesn't like the big cans of food after they've been open for 2 days. The first day it's fine... the second day is ok too but after that when I feed them she still follows me around is if to say... "No really mom, where's MY food?". Wickett on the other hand will eat just about anything.

I also wanna say that smell wise I'd eat EP if I had to where as w/ something like 9-lives I wouldn't touch it.

I haven't tried the ocean fish, because Jamie gets more than enough fish with the other brands he eats, but the Eagle Pack turkey & barley is a hit with him. He usually won't eat poultry, so it must be the barley he likes.

i've tried, since we have a place that carries eagle pack around here. but no. they just don't like it anymore.

Well that's good...it sounds like it's just a matter of preference. I guess mine prefer the ones with oatmeal. It just really surprised me, because they'll usually eat anything I bring home, as long as it's the texture they prefer.

twstychik, I agree about the smell vs 9 Lives...I might have to eat the other 5 cans.

One of mine will eat the chicken and lamb. I don't believe she liked the duck and barley at all. She's going through a weird phase now though where she will like something one day and not the next.

Matt thinks I'm nuts cuz I've told him that the EP food actually smells good. It smells like what it is. The fish smells like fish... the chicken like chicken. The cheap stuff all smells the same and it's nasty! Yet, my cats still seem to prefer the cheap stuff... so I mix their dry (half meow mix half EP adult formula) and then I alternate canned every day.

You know...if they really like the oatmeal, perhaps you coud mix some cooked regular oatmeal in with their raw medallions to see what they do? It would be an interesting trial!

That's a good idea!
I'll let you know how that goes.

The only flavor of Eagle Pack I've tried is the Turkey and Barley. Some of them ate it and some didn't. All in all it was not a great hit with them. I may try another flavor next time. Usually they love anything with turkey so I thought it would work. Fussy kitties.

Virah seems to think that turkey & barley, chicken & lamb, and salmon & shrimp are pretty good.

I've been feeding Gizmo the Chicken and Lamb but he doesn't seem to be too crazy about it. I don't think he likes the peas and carrots.
Then again he's been really picky about his canned food lately so who knows, maybe he's just being finicky.
