Can i request some good day vibes?

Hi everyone,

I Had a really terrible day today at work. Really its been mounting all week, but today took the cake.

No, no one is dying or anything.

Anyways, to sum things up our spam filter has quadrupled the amount of emails it filters in 3 weeks. This has lead to the computer crapping out.

More or less emails have been down since 9:30 this morning. I worked all morning, left for a quick lunch and came back to work all afternoon on it. The company that supports the product didn't call back, and finally I gave up and left just after 5:00.

I plan on going in early tomorrow, hopefully get there by 6, but I just don't want to repeat the day again.

So can I ask for a few good day vibes????

Email drives our companies now and when it is down that long, things come to a screeching halt and everyone is complaining.

I feel your pain and know what it is all about.

Hope things go better tomorow. If your in the same area as me you might not be going to work tomorow.

Good luck! We've been having computer issues at work too, some "updates" that IT has put off until the last minute are being pushed out across the network and KILLING our bandwidth. The mail server is shutting on and off, web services slow....

Thanks everyone. I've been here since 6 am, and still no luck.

I finally just decided to let everything through. I was also trying to work out an alternate, but that's not working either.
Huh...which is why I originally logged onto the web, was to look up an error message and came here instead.

Anyhoo, hopefully I get this licked and then can go home early today. I've received almost 300 messages since I've turned the machine back on.

Ok, i guess i got confused, here. your spam filter is letting spam past? or your mail is getting hit with 4x more spam?

Management decided a few weeks ago that because the sales people were missing 2 or 3 $1000 orders, that it would be a good idea to let all the sales people receive all the email being sent to them (Spam or not).

Sooooo...this leads to a big mistake. I began to see an immediate increase in emails being sent to the server and several of these people visiting porn or not-so-good sites because turns out they were opening the spam emails clicking on them etc. I did turn this off, then got yelled at by management in which myself and someone else had to explain why.

So in short the server broke and I'm waiting for a new part to get here to build a new server.

tell them to keep to pushing papers and leave IT to the IT people.

But yea, same at my job, we got hit by a major virus(planted by a upset person that had been fired) we blocked all incoming out going going traffice to the net. But presdent of the company, and few higher ups had us turn everything back on before we had the virus under control cause they could not get to ESPN, and there fake football(fanstay football)

but its still are fault. blah

~~~~GOOD DAY VIBES~~~~ Here's hoping the day improves 100% for you. Computers....the good, the bad and the down right ugly!!! I remember using my first ever computer to computer (Cross Talk Communicator) which allowed me to speak to my dad in another house. I thought that was the cats meow...now I meet people all over the world. Places I will never get to. But with that comes the spam, viruses etc.
You IT people have a tough job and my hat goes off to you.

Yea, now that they're getting everything they're whining now.

I make sure to get everything in writing, then if somehow I get blamed and fired I can at least provide why.

Agreed, leave IT alone. Also, never work in IT if your boss is in sales. The 2 can co-exist, just never work under each other.

I think they're finally working.

The hard drive came in and I'm finally getting Windows loaded.

Only 2 more hours....

I was hoping to be done and go home at 3...but looks like I may not.
