What really bothers me, is that our men and woman are fighting in other countries for their freedom, all the while we lose ours. My wife's son is in the army and will more than likely go to Iraq. This is something he wants to do and I admire him for that. But think of this. He is serving his country and risking his own life. But in his own country that he is serving for, he is losing his own rights. Just makes me sick. But, with all the TCS Board Magic and the "gris-gris", I have a good feeling that this bill is going to be stopped.
Well I am giving it my best shot

I know I haven't posted here in a while, so I thought I would give a brief update. We are getting very well organized. We have had some good meetings with some very important people as well. I can't elaborate much at the moment, but there is a lot of hard work going on. But as things change, I will keep everyone up to date. We still need all the board magic, vibes, gris-gris and prayers that we can get

And I am still praying for you every night, I am not using a "gris gris" right now, I am just using good old fashioned prayers.

I will use the "gris gris" on some of the law makers if I have to later, please keep me updated on that.

I'm really torn on this issue.

I firmly believe that large cats belong in the wild and should not be domesticated.

However, I also feel your pain because you have raised those 4 and love them very much and they love and trust you too.

All I can do is say that I hope you find some resolution that works for all of you and at the same time is in the best interests of the animals in question.

This is a little off topic, but I need to ask, why do you feel this way? Just wondering

Just to make things a little clear. These cats, as well as the mjority of exotic cats held by private owners, no longer come from the wild. They are born and raised in captivity. However, these cats are no longer safe out in the wild. Humans are destroying their habitat at an alarming rate. Everytime a human violates a wild cats territory and gets injured, the cat suffers the ultimate fate and is hunted down and destroyed. So, they are not really better off in the wild any more. Of course, we humans also kill them for their fur or just for the thrill of hunting bigs cat. Yes, these cats should be kept alive and thriving out in the wild. But, I also feel it is my right, as well as anyone elses right, to own such cats, as long as you do it responsibly, can provide for the total welfare of the animal and the safety of the public. In the future, if things keep going the way they are, with humans destroying the last remaining wild places, the only place you will be able to see these wonderful cats, is in captivity by private owners. However, if the animal rights groups keep getting their way, by pushing for these stupid ban laws, these cats will go extinct. They will die out in the wild, because there will be no place for them to survive and none of them will exist with private owners. This also means zoos and private breeding facilities. This would be a very sad day indeed!! I can go on, but that is not the topic of this thread. I was just trying to shed a little light on the responsible ownership of exotic/wild cats. I also firmly believe, that if you could experience one day with me, along side these wonderful cats, you would change your mind. There is nothing like waking to the sounds of bobcat talk and having a bobcat strongly bond to you or being hugged, groomed and loved by a purring cougar. Please check out my experiences here on this thread http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76630

i sincerly hope this bill does not pass. have you ever noticed if a bill passes in one state and gets any kind of publicity, other states tend to follow suit? i live in upstate ny and am currently taking zoology classes in big cat health because in a couple of years i hope to open a sancutary for them. i would hate to have to move to another state, away from friends and family to make my dreams true.
please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. if there is anything i can do, please don't hesitate.

John i'm putting myself in your position right now, and i can only imagine how you must be feeling?.

These cats are your babies, just like Rosie and Sophie are mine, and if they were taken away from me, to say i would be devastated would be an understatement.

Good luck from across the pond from all of us

No no, I am not sure if you had seen my exotic furbabies thread. I ran into some zoning issue problems last summer, with having him here. So, until we work things out with the township or move, he was moved to our friends sanctuary until we relocate. He isn't that far away and gets lots of attention and love there. I spend a lot of time at the sanctuary helping out as well. Our bobcats are still here, but from the recent exotic thread that has been hot the past 2 days, this move was the result of some animal rights people making a false complaint. They came onto my property in disguise. This is why I have nothing but hate for any and ALL animal rights groups.

Ok, ALL Ohio people who have been waiting to help out. The time is now to begin the fight
All Ohio people who wish to help, please PM me. If you know the State Rep who introduced this bill, please email and call him again ASAP and voice your opinion against House Bill 45. We had a meeting with him today and he stated that he has received NO opposition to this bill. LIAR!! I, as well as many others, had written to him. So, we need to flood him with opposition emails and phone calls now. If you do not know who the state rep is, please PM me and I will give you his name, email address and phone number. Note: His information; email address and phone number is public record. This is how you voice your opinion about these laws. I am not giving out his "personal" email or phone number, but only his public contact information.
Also, I will let you know when the first hearing will be, it is in April. If you wish to attend, this will be of great help. The hearings are on a Wednesday in the AM. You do not need to speak or anything, unless you want to, we just need to pack the state house with as many people opposing this bill as possible.

Just a thought, John. I can't do thing one, since I don't live there, but it occurred to me as I read the above, that every communication that is sent to this person (who claims not to have received any opposition
) should be copied to -- whom I do not know, because I'm not familiar with the bureaucracy involved -- but to someone who will be in a position to call him on such a claim. All the protests in the world will do sweet boom all, if it can't be proved they were made. FWIW.

Good luck.
