Exactly
It seems now, that there will be no more hearings on this bill until the end of summer. So, this gives us more time to prepare as well. We are not going to let this sit on the back burner during the summer, we will continue to fight. We have gathered some more support as well. I also want to take this time once again, to thank everyone here for their support
Thats good news, I will pop in from time to time to see how its going, still rounding up people here to contact their reps. This will be a long road, I doubt it will go away quickly.

Our 5 babies are keeping their paws crossed for all of us.

Yes, it is going to be a long road, but we need to continue to contact our reps and voice our opinion against this bad bill. The reps are listenting to what we say, so this is very good
Thank you very much for your support

Yes we are and it is our right to be able to and I will fight to continue to keep that right.
From what you have posted here, it seems like you agree with this stupid ban law?? If so, may I ask why?? Do you realize, that if this law should go through, that many of these cats will be killed?? Do you realize, that this bill is fully supported by ALL the horrible animal rights groups like PETA, API and HSUS??
Do you realize, that these animal rights groups that I just mentioned, support the killing of animals?? THEY are the ones pushing for this ban
What right do these animal rights groups have, trying to tell us what animals we can not own, as long as you do so responsibly?? Yes, it is my GOD GIVEN RIGHT to share my life with any animal I choose, as long as I am responsible and can provide for the total welfare of the animal. I am not angry at you, I am angry at these animal rights extremists, the media who exploits this animal rights extremist garbage and the law makers who believe, for whatever reason, the lies that the animal rights groups tell them. However, the exotic animal owners in Ohio are strong, we have educated the lawmakers on the true evil agenda behind these AR groups.
You may want to check out this thread as well.http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76630 See what responsible exotic animal owners are really like and get to know their cats who are their family. Once you do, you will see why these ban laws are wrong and why we must fight for our rights. Because first, it is a ban on exotics, then next comes our domestics and that too, has already begun

LOL hey, I didnt ONE time agree with the ban law, I was just unaware that we can have exotic animals. But it hardly makes sense....you say you want the right to own any animal you want, but would you feel safe knowing that they passed a law allowing people to own elephants or lions in their backyard? lol. I dont agree with the ban law, but im sure most of it has to do with fear.

Well, I feel 1000 times safer living next to lions, tigers, cougars and so on, than I do living near most people. People are much more dangerous and unpredictable, than any of these animals are. People kill and injure more people, than any of these animals ever would. In the wild, a tiger would never kill a human for the "fun of it", they would do it only if they are very hungry and had not had anything to eat for a very long period of time and even this is very unlikely. However, people WILL kill for the fun of it!! People do own lions and tigers and so on, in their back yards and as stated, it is their right to do so, but at the moment, I do not know of anyone who has an elephant, but there very well could be. Would I feel safe?? YES I would, as long as the person did it responsibly with all the proper caging and safety measures in place, just as I do. All my neighbors LOVE my cats. If you are talking about a safety issue here, you are more likely to be killed or injured by a domestic dog!! If you would like to see a list of statistics, I would be more than happy to post it. You will see, that the chance of you getting injured or killed by an exotic cat is at the very bottom of the list (And these injuries or deaths are usually by someone who trespassed onto the property where the cat lives and did something stupid or the owner themselves, who did something stupid or a visitor NOT FOLLOWING THE RULES) There are very few, IF ANY, incidents where an exotic cat got out and killed someone. You have a much much better chance, at winning the mega millions jackpot. You will more than likely be killed or injured, by being struck by lighting. You are more than likely to be injured or even killed, by falling in the shower and children are far more likely to be killed by their own toys!! Yes, I have the national statistics, if you would like to see them.
As for this ban law being out of fear, no, it is not. It is the animal rights extremists that want these laws passed. THEY put false ideas into peoples heads. They use the liberal media as well. Yes, there are bad owners out there, just as there are bad domestic animal owners as well. Where I live, you WILL more than likley be injured by someones dog running at large, because the owners are irresponsible dog owners. You can accidentally be SHOT here, because there are no laws about shootig guns on your property. (Anyone who lives out in the country can tell you this) So I ask you this. WHO is more dangerous?? Me, who responsibly owns exotic cats or one of my neighbors who may get drunk and decide to go out and target shoot with his or her gun?? Or maybe the person who just had a few drinks and decides to get on the road and drive?? Yes, there are dangers in every thing we do, but we do not need the government to ban everything they feel is dangerous. Do I agree with fair responsible regulations?? Yes I do!! In my case with exotic cats, I don't suggest that just anyone should go out and get a lion, tiger, cougar or bobcat as a pet. But, if you are able and willing to do it responsibly, than I fully support 100%, your right to do so

Just a quick update. This hasn't been forgotten, but it seems that there will be no more hearings in this committee until further notice

Not much to update on this bill, so I figured I would just post some really good anti Animal Rights posters. Didn't know where else to post them, but I figured this would be a great spot, since this Ohio Bill IS sponsored by the AR group API (Animal Protection Institute) and PETA and HSUS wants it to pass as well.

Yes, let the truth be known about the AR and their real agenda

Here is more very good information. I know, I am sure some people are probably thinking I should shut up
, but I won't. Not until these AR groups are stopped for good

Please forward to all email lists and to every one you know!

The Humane Society of the United States has mounted a huge campaign to raise money to care for the dogs rescued from Michael Vick's dogfighting ring. The plea comes complete with a heartbreaking picture of one of the injured dogs. (Not surprisingly, studies have shown that people donate more when shown a picture of or told a story about a single animal needing help. HSUS is very clever at fundraising.) But before you contribute, please note:

1) There is a disclaimer in fine print at the bottom of the form which says your donation may be used for other HSUS programs and may not be used to help the dog fight victims.

2) There has been no accounting for the nearly $20 million HSUS raised for the Katrina dogs and cats. The organization is under investigation by the Louisiana Attorney General for their handling of that situation. http://www.animalagalliance.org/main...ry=MediaCorner

3) HSUS has NO shelter. It is a corporate office building in Washington DC. It is supposedly "overseeing" the care of the dogs that were seized from Vick's house, but we don't know where the animals are, Will the shelter actually providing their care receive all the donations this campaign generates?

4) There is no reason to believe that your contributions will go to help the dogs seized from Michael Vick or any other dogs or cats. HSUS spends most of its money on legislative efforts to make dog breeding impossible and pet ownership more difficult, more expensive, and more dangerous and someday, when they reach their goals of spaying and neutering all pets, there will be no dogs and cats in this county. Only those few who are willing to go underground and puppymillers who import them from outside the country will have pets to sell at great prices greatly shrinking gene pools and producing pets with even greater genetic problems then even the puppymills of today.

5) HSUS claims its servers crashed from the response to their first appeal for money for these dogs, yet they are still out there beating the drum for more money, still claiming more is needed for the Vick dogs.

And if you are still considering writing that check, read the following quotes from Wayne Pacelle, president of HSUS- "I don't have a hands-on fondness for animals...To this day I don't feel bonded to any non-human animal. I like them and I pet them and I'm kind to them, but there's no special bond between me and other animals." quoted in Bloodties: Nature, Culture and the Hunt by Ted Kerasote, 1993, p. 251.

"We have no problem with the extinction of domestic animals. They are creations of human selective breeding." quoted in Animal People, May, 1993.

When asked if he envisioned a future without pets: "If I had my personal view, perhaps that might take hold. In fact, I don't want to see another dog or cat born." Wayne Pacelle quoted in Bloodties: Nature, Culture and the Hunt by Ted Kerasote, 1993, p. 266.

Where are the millions in contributions they already receive every year? If you have money to contribute, please send it to your **local** shelter. Donations received by local shelters do help animals. The money sent to HSUS does not.

Well, that says it all doesn't it?

This man is the President of HSUS?
I wouldn't let him clean out my litter boxes...but then again if he feels that way about animals it's just as well because I wouldn't want him any where near my cats.

Yes, the president of HSUS. I know many find what I have been trying to say very shocking, but this is the truth about HSUS and others like them. How about Ingrid Newkirk, president of PETA "in the end, I think it would be lovely if we stopped this whole notion of pets altogether". I just hope more people will see the truth about these extremist AR groups, before it is to late. A world without a human and animal bond, is one I do not wish to live in. That would be a very sad day for sure.

I agree.
I can't imagine just how sad and empty the world would be without pets in it.
It's obvious she's never know the unconditional love of a pet.

Pretty sad isn't it? I have lived with animals all my life and each one has been a very special part of me and I am so happy to have had them be a part of my life

I'm the same way.
When my parents brought me home from the hospital there was a cat in our home and one or more cats has been part of my life everyday since then.

I have four young children and they're like me, they don't know what life is like without a cat in it.
I truly believe that my 3 year old knows more about how cats should be treated and how to take care of one more so than some adults.
