I sent John a copy of a GREAT response I got from one of the representatives. This rep had a very strong response, and hopefully he will get to make a good stand for the oppostion to the bill!

Wow, that was one excellent reply
This representative is on the committee who will be hearing this bill tomorrow. If this bill gets stopped in committee, it is done!! Of course, a different version can come back next year, but we won't even go there right now. This shows that they may be willing to work with us on a fair bill.

Ok, I thought I would update everyone. Yesterday, 4/18, we attended the committee hearing on this bill. It was very disturbing to listen to the representative read his bill (I should point out, this isn't really his bill. It is a bill written by an Animal Rights extremist group know as API, Animal Protection Institute and this rep is introducing a bill THEY wrote). However, after the bill was read, things became very interesting. When he asked, are there any questions, I could not have imagined how many state reps would ask him questions. Many questions HE did NOT know the answer to. He did mention over and over the AR extremist group API. One thing is for sure, all of you who have helped by writing and or calling, your voice WAS heard and it was heard strongly
This is why the reps asked questions. You have done a wonderful job and I can not thank you enough
This is not over, but yesterday was a very positive day. As for what's next? I will keep you posted. When the time comes, I will call for your help once again. If we are lucky, this bill will be killed right here in commitee, but I am not sure if that will happen or not. The rep and the API are wanting this thing to go through. Another aspect of all this, it has been a great learning experience. If you have never gone to any of your state hearings like this, you should. These representatives were voted in by you and they need to hear how you feel on any and all bills that come before them. Many bills, they have no idea on the subject and will only hear from people who support the bill. They NEED to hear both sides, so they can make an educated decision. Pay attention to all your local, county and state bills. You just never know when something will come along that will affect you. But, when you come together, like we have here, you can make a huge difference. This was never more evident, than it was yesterday at our state house

And yes, Susan and I heard from the same rep!

My wife and I have a F2 Savannah, under this bill, he is considered a hybrid of a Serval, so he too would fall under this ruling. The only thing he can be accused of is licking ya to death. I have many friends who have contacted their represenatives as well, hopefully this goes no further.

If your intereseted, Simba's pictures are at

Yes Eric, this is a very bad Animal Rights bill. This bill was written by API (Animal Protection Institute) and this is their foot in the door to ban not just exotics, but to eliminate ALL animal ownership. Make sure you continue to write and or call your state representatives asking them not to support this bill. Always remember to be polite and courteous when writing and speaking with them. I have a list of representatives who are on the committee that is hearing this bill at the moment. We need to stop this bill in committee. If you would like to write them as well, this would be very beneficial. Our boy Carmelo is guilty of the same as well. Being very adorable and wanting to purr and groom my wife and I all the time
By the way, Simba is awesome

I did not hear much, on how the proponent hearing went today, but as soon as I do, I will post it. However, I did find out that the opponent hearing scheduled for next week, May 2nd, has been postponed. Could this be a good thing? Maybe they are not going to waste any more time on it? That I do not know. But, it gives us more time to write in opposition of the bill

Not much new to post at the moment, but I thought I would post a link to a good article about the animal rights extremists. This would have been good to post on that other forum, that has since been closed. This is further proof that these AR extremists are a threat to each and every one of us

Thanks for the article-in Wisconsin last April it when the whole "feral" cat shooting controvery came up-so many animal (cat) lovers showed up at the regional conversation congresses (which of course are mainly hunters) and the state of Wisconsin was so embarassed over the national exposure this "rule" will never pass by the WI DNR. It shows that true support can win in the end.
I hope that the state of Ohio wises up to this fact-especially for your sake.

I am glad that you looked at this site. I sure hope more people look at this site as well. I guess the majority of people will never believe me or what I have to say, about the animal rights extremist movement, until it happens to them. Unfortunately, by then, it will be to late. I can not stress enough, how real of a threat, these animal rights extremists really are. If they are allowed to continue unchecked, in the not to distant future, there will be no such thing as pets. The funny thing is, the federal goverment has classified these animal rights extremist groups as domestic terrorists, but still allows these groups to be tax exempt
They make millions of dollars, pay no taxes on that money, use the money for their own agenda, which is to eliminate ALL contact between man and animal and to pay lobbyists to push these ban bills through, but do not use the money to help animals and to educate people on responsible ownership (I am talking about all animals here, not just exotics).

How does one totally eliminate all contact with all animals? They're all around us! The human race would not have survived without contact with animals - be it insect, reptile, avian or mammal.

By the way, it would mean no contact with humans as we are animals, too.
