Any idea the record for longest-lived domestic cat? Theres probably a guinness record for that, how about in personal experience? A friends ex-girlfriend had a cat who lived to be 21, thats about the longest I've heard of.

The oldest verified by the Guinness book of records lived to be 36, which is absolutely amazing!

The oldest I have known was a lovely brown tabby called Fred, not my cat but a great little lovebug and a real licker, he wandered in from the streets with his ribs poking out when he was already an adult, age unknown, and he went on to enjoy a further 21 years in his new home.

The oldest on record that is verifiable was 'Puss', a tabby in Devonshire, who died in 1939 aged 36 years and one day! Thats 160 in human years!
A friend of a friend had a cat that lived to 30 I think. Will have to check on that.

I know there are cats out there that have lived in mid 20's - think the oldest one was 30 or something like that (in the record book). In a way I'm not sure if I believe it, but those records books do verify before putting them in there.

Spooky is my oldest (15 1/2 yrs). But the other older rex I owned, Tazz, she would be 18 this coming spring. As far as I know (my friend back east has her) she's still around.

The linky doesnt work

My beloved Tess lived to 22...and the vet seemed unimpressed. Said living to age 25 was becoming much more common in cats.

We had a kitty when I was growing up named Bootsie. He was an indoor/outdoor cat. He was the runt of the litter of a barn cat, and grew to be 28 pounds. He was the most affectionate, lovey old guy I've ever known. Bootsie was PTS in 1982 at the age of 22 1/2 years. Here's a picture of Bootsie about a year or so before he went to the Rainbow Bridge.

Aww, Bootsie was such an adorable big boy. I love reading about all these long-lived kitties.
