My boy Taylor is a milk addict. Whenever I have a bowl of cereal or a glass of milk, he is right by my side just waiting for me to finish. If I am not careful, he won't be so patient for me to finish and he'll help himself. I always leave him a little milk in the bowl or glass so he can have some.

It's not terrible for cats to have milk as a treat is it? I believe I read somewhere that cow's milk wasn't good for kitties.

Anyway, is your cat a milk addict? Mooo

I've read here that cats are lactose intolerante (? I think)....Mandarin sits on the kitchen table every morning and stares down the kids while they eat their cereal....ha ha...he stalks them while their eating and when they are done he comes and mops up any spills...sometimes he headbutts their hands in between the bowls and their mouths to make them spill...ha ha ha...its pretty funny.

The reason most folks suggest not giving a cat milk is because a lot of kitties are lactose intolerant. If your little fellow isn't and enjoys milk, I don't see any harm as long as you don't overdo it. Everything in moderation as they say.

That is too funny!

I hate to deny my boys treats, but if someone here knows that cats shouldn't have any cow's milk, I'll have to cut Taylor off.

like Yosemite said "most" cats are lactose intolerant, and trust me, you would know if Taylor was
but if he doesn't have any problem than a little bit here and there won't hurt him

Thanks! I feel better now. BTW, your kitties are very cute! I love their colors. Are they a special breed?

I have two that also wait for me to give them some of my milk. They are also butter stealers ...We can't leave any butter on the counter or they are up lapping it!

Tiger is very partial to crunchy nut cornflake milk and Special K, he's not overly fussed with rice crispies... I think he has a sweet tooth so likes sweetened cereal milk. He also is a butter addict, you leave toast alone at your own risk here!

Trout used to headbutt my hand holding the spoon to make me spill..she did that when she was a kitten. She would also run up as fast as she could and stick her paw in my milk

She doesn't pay much attention to it anymore.

Speaking of non cat treat treats...the other day I gave Trout the bowl I used to mix tuna in..I put it right in front of her on the floor..and she wouldn't go near it..she was skeptical because I was actually letting her have at it

It was cute..

Mine have a preference for vanilla soy milk with a little non fat dry milk and oatmeal mixed in...don't ask how I discovered this, I'm not the one who eats this concoction.

They won't eat any of those 3 things without the other 2 properly mixed in. Silly kitties.

Like the other cats mentioned Radar isn't fussed about milk unless I'm having Coco-Pops and then he goes mad chasing me around the apartment begging. He hasn't even tasted Coco-Pops

"Hi, my name is Jamie Cat, and I'm a Whiskas cat milk addict!"
Jamie won't drink other types of milk. He raises a ruckus if he doesn't get his Whiskas milk every day, though, so he gets a few sips (1/5 to 1/4 of a little bottle) every morning. That's a lot of extra calories, but at least it's fortified, and means some extra fluid.

Thank you. Our lives revolves around them for sure. Bijou and Mika are full brother and sister but from different litters. Mika is a Bluepoint Siamese and Bijou is a Lilac point Siamese. Bijou owns us and Mika owns our daughter.

I don't give any of my boys milk, sometimes i'll let them lick out a dry bowl, but thas it.
They get really runny poops from even a little bit of it, so none for them.
