Working in the auto insurance industry I can tell you that women in their 30's and 40's get better rates than men in the same age braket. I see it every day.

An insurance company has a radio commercial stating woman are better drivers and they offer a better rate for women.

I think women are generally more careful than men when driving.

I should print this out for my DH!

That's me: A dull, middle aged female driver with a toddler strapped into the back of my minivan! (Even my dog has a seatbelt! . And I lovvve my 7 year old grey Odyssey minivan! ) .

Being a nerd is supposed to be cool these days, anyways, right? (besides, I couldn't fit the "impulse buy" cat tree or the kiddo's (impulse buy- read: really, really good price ) sandbox in the back of a sports car, right? Apparently, it's cheaper, anyways

As long as I don't have a back-seat driver I'm good at driving.

B hates when I drive because I drive defensively...plus he has an issue with cars in front of him. He doesn't like having cars in front of him. When he drives I just shut up and bury my head in a book so that I don't watch.

Studies have also shown that elderly women drivers cause as many accidents as teenage males, lol. They tend to be overly cautious on major highways whereas young males are more reckless. *shrug*

My boss and I had a conversation (coincidentally today) about defensive driving. He said that women drivers are more likely to cause an accident by brakeing for a squirrel "or other small animal" (he was obviously trying not to say cat).

... as he drives away talking on his cell phone.

I believe it. My Fh always blows by cars just so he can get to the exit ramp 2 seconds faster, but to do that he has to cross 3 lanes of traffic. It drives me crazy!!

Yes, it's well known that women as a group are safer drivers than men.

Of course, it's well known that women as a group are superior to men in just about every way, so I'm not really surprised

I really don't know at this point. I'm sure overall it is true, but lately it seems like all the people that do stupid things to piss me off are mostly woman drivers. Just this week I had a BMW almost hit me while in the passing lane because they did not even bother to check their blind spot! Then, to make matters worse I HAD to brake and I blared my horn or I would have been hit!! They get kept getting over like nothing was wrong!! I flipped them off and tailed them till I could see who it was. A stupid woman talking on her cell!! I flipped her off again. But then again, I had a guy in a truck do the same EXACT thing to me a month ago. So I really don't know. I'd say women are overall, but you know when this crap happens to you every single freaking day....you get tired of it and then people wonder why I have road rage.

i hate when that happens
i told dan that there are somethings that make me mad enough to wanna get out of my car and take some ones face and smoosh it into the concrete. I wouldnt mind going to jail for that or paying a fine for doing that to someone who is that stupid/inconsiderate and evil to not even acknowledge they almost caused an accident.

ROFL My sentiments exactly....

Hmmm I've had my worst problems with women drivers, too, lately. Esp. when the nearing the areas where four lanes drop down into just two - the women drivers seem to pass too late, forcing me to drastically slow down and go into the bike lane to prevent a head-on The guys seem to predict upcoming conditions sooner, and pass right on time.
However, IMO, my DH is a worse driver than I am - his eyesight is bad and he still drives too fast. I have been known to drive much faster, but I have excellent vision and give my attention to my driving - which is why I love listening to music, but not talk radio or books on tape - and talking on the cell phone while driving, for me, is a BIG NONO

You know what makes me burn when I'm driving? It's a small thing, but it gets under my skin like you would not believe. When it's busy and you let someone in front of you, or someone just shoves in front of you anyway, and they don't wave to acknowledge that a) you've let them in or b) that they've just pulled in front of you rudely.

Makes me want to jump out of my car and whop them over the head with my bag.

But I believe that's called Road Rage.
Speaking of Road Rage there wasa big H2 Hummer with a tag that said RDRAGE! It made me laugh cause i needthat tag!!

I don't think that it is neccessarily true or not. Here is my reasoning from my experiences. I drive very well IMO. I pay attention to what is going on around me and try to anticipate the things other drivers are going to do. I have had my fair share of close calls. All my accidents have been in parking lots where I was hit by someone else while I was either parked or in gear ready to go forward when they were backing up.

Lee on the other hand takes risks and drives too fast but has the experience I lack. I credit it to his go kart racing. He can avoid accidents like noone else. He nkows how the truck is going to react when he swerves or gets loose or whatever. I fuss at him for his driving but ultimately I feel safe riding with him.

IMO it all depends on the driver and has nothing to do with male or female!
