Brand New!

Hi everyone! I already started posting on the other forums, but I thought I'd introduce myself here

My name is Jessica, I'm 26, and I'm from Mid-Michigan. At the moment, I have six cats, with a litter on the way from one of them! (The dad has an appt tomorrow to get spayed, and I'm going to speak to my vet about getting the mom spayed as soon as it's safe after she gives birth).

My six cats:

Lady: Brown tabby, sister to Mama Fetch and Bubba. She is a very slim, petite cat who likes to beat up (playfully!) the bigger cats. She's not a cuddler, per se, but loves to get scratched and curl up on your feet when you're laying on the couch.

Mama Fetch: The pregnant one! Guess that's what I get for naming her 'mama'! She got her name for two reasons - when I brought home cottonball, who was just a tiny kitten, she immediately adopted her and started trying to drag her around the house (she attempted to carry her around by the scruff of her neck, but would often as not miss, and end up carrying the cat by her hair, or ear, or something ). She also LOVES playing fetch with the tops of beer bottles. Seriously. This cat will get on,e, drop it at your feet, and yowl until you throw it for her to go fetch

Bubba: Big brother to the above two. I adopted all three of them first, because they were barn kittens whose mom got killed when a cow rolled over on her . Bubba is the big "stupid" furball, who LOVES attention. He likes to literally throw himself sideways on the ground and squirm around until you lean over an pet him.

Cottonball: Long haired cat, adopted him when he was a feral kitten. We think he's a bit of a midget cat, because he was malnurished so much when he was little. Not that you can tell that now, the coat he has makes him look twice his size! He's black/brown/white (my vet said that makes him an XXY, or somthing - I don't know too much about cat genetics). Follows me around the house mewing until I pet him, but hides at the first sign of strangers.

Trash Kitten: When I get around to posting pictures, you'll understand why I call her trash kitten Sister to cottonball, another midget, but so much tinier, because she was wild longer. Long haired grey tortiseshell, but she was so matted when I got her, that I had to have her shaved to give her a fresh start on keeping her coat groomed. She just got over an upper respiratory infection, and is starting to be social again (she likes cuddling on my side for warmth!)

Pounce: Gray kitty, soon to be a father. A coworker had taken in a stray that he could not just leave - his fiance said he was hanging around her work for a couple weeks. The most lovey cat ever. If you're sitting on the couch, he MUST be on your lap or next to you. Becoming more and more vocal as he grows, he's not a big fan of strangers, either. And Mama Fetch and Lady don't get along too well with him, so he tends to stay away as well (they don't fight seriously, but there is growling and paw batting). He's got a slightly rakish look, as he came to me with a split ear.

I also had two other cats, Dee (adult long haired tortiseshell, cuddlebunny) who my aunt and uncle took (she did not get along with other cats), and Frank, an orange and white tabby who I rescued as a kitten because of a large wound on his neck, and who is now happily living with a friend in Chicago.

Well, that's my novel on my cats I'll try to post pictures later, as my mom finally brought my camera back

My best guess is about four weeks. I noticed her stomach last weekend (firm, and sticking out on both sides) and prominant nipples. Most things I've read say that happens around week five, and that seems to fit in right about the last time I remember her being in heat.

Actually, that's why I joined the board - looking for advice and stories about other people who have been through the same thing This is the first time I've been responsible for a pregnant cat, so I'm going to start her with kitten food in a week or two, and get the room around in about two weeks. I'm so excited and nervous!

Welcome Lady, Mama Fetch, T.Kitten, Bubba, Cottonball, Pounce, Jessica, Dee and Frank,

to TheCatSite and THANK YOU for rescuing multiple cats AND getting "daddy" neutered (and mama spayed asap)...all 9 of us are rescued, indoor-only, and spayed/neutered, of course! Our meowmy has lived with, loved, rescued and advoCATed for cats all her life, and is always glad to hear of cats finding loving, forever homes with people who will really care for them and do right by them. We hope to see you around a lot on the forums, and would love to see those pix! Sounds like Cottonball may be quite a rare chap, a male calico! Can't wait to see all of your babies, and we know they're all special!
