I have a 6 year old, male neutered cat. He's healthy and very well taken care of but pees on stuff like our bed,any clothes that have fallen on the floor. He'll do it right in front of us.Even with freshly changed litter he still pees where he wants. What can I do?

How long has this been going on? Have you taken him to the vet specifically to talk about this problem? If not, that would be the next step.

If the vet finds no physical reason for it, then you have to start looking into behavioral reasons... but let's hope it's just a simple urinary tract infection...

Sounds like a urinary tract infection, crystals or a bladder infection... when is the last time he has been to the vet? Have you had him seen specifically for the peeing? A routine vet checkup wouldn't find a UTI or crystals or bladder infection.

He's been doing it off and on for about 1 1/2 yrs.He started doing it when we lost another cat.He does use the box as well but he's so defiant. It's like he's trying to show us who's in charge. The thing that frustrates me is he only does it on the bed or any clothes that fall on the floor. We'll definitely take him to the vet.

You could try locking him in a bathroom or some place similair for a couple of days, with NOTHING he can pee on or in other then his litter box. You can also try products like cat attract ( http://www.preciouscat.com/ ) to try and help.

Otherwise, the only other thing I know of is to try medications like buspar and amitriptilyne. The are suppose to help with behavoiral problems....
