Leslie301, I'd get a silver if I already had a brown. I think the kitten is precious!
As far as critique for show purposes, I can't help you there.
You're probably better off starting your own thread for this rather than taking over Nial's thread which is showcasing his growing litterOriginally Posted by Leslie301
Hey guys!
I just stumbled on this thead and thought it was kind of relevent since I'm in the process of kitty-shopping myself.
I already have a Bengal girl (brown spotted) and was looking to get a silver boy. (Not for breeding, just for friends!) Anyway, I find myself being the most indecisive human being on earth while trying to figure this out. I wanted the Silver, since it would be "different", but there's something super-exotic about the brown spotted Bengals who have that light colored/buttery base coat. So, quick poll, which do you guys think is more exotic looking, a brown or a silver?
Here's the picture of the kitty that I'm thinking about buying. I welcome your critiques! I'd like to be able to show him in the "alter" category, so please keep that in mind.
THANKS SO MUCH!
Sarah is correct that I made this thread so the members of TCS could see how silvers change from birth to kitten hood. It is a learning experience for me as well, since this is my first litter with silvers.Originally Posted by Leslie301

Thanks!!!!! You guys are awesome.
Well congratulations on your new kitten.Originally Posted by Leslie301
Nile, once again I extend my apologies for butting into your conversation.I just got excited when I saw folks talking about silver Bengal kittens, so I jumped right in. Please forgive me. Your kittens are gorgeous, by the way! I wish that Sterling wasn't sold.....
Anyway, this was a result of a silver-to-silver breeding. The sire is Ceddarranch Iron Steel.... I don't think she's taken him to any shows, though.
I have decided to get this kitten- I'm really excited!! She says that he should have a wonderful temperament which is really important to me, also.

Wow Nial! Excellent job, as usual! I finally got through this whole thread and it is really amazing watching these beautiful guys develop. I'm really looking forward to seeing them grow out of the 'fuzzy uglies' stage too. Thats something really remarkable about bengals. Congratulations! (I'm especially looking forward to seeing Ms. Spotty Paw's litter though. I'm sure they'll be absolutely gorgeous!)
Question: What is your opinion of their type and conformation? Thats something I'm still a little unclear about. I've read the standards, but I'd like to actually SEE what good bengal type looks like. Thanks!
Sterling is my fav too! LOVE those rosettes!Originally Posted by Kai Bengals

You know, I really think it's still too early to tell on lots of the aspects of conformation. At least the ones that are important to me right now.
These guys change so much in a weeks time, it's unreal. I'm waiting for the face/head to grow so I can get a real good idea of what the profile is going to look like. Then the ear set will be next to critique.
Right now I think they all have good boning, nice short thick tails, correct silver background with white to the skin, good contrasting spots, interesting patterns.
Right now my opinion on each kitten is this:
Sterling: I like his pattern, big rosettes and his contrast is good. He has a rib bar that I could do without, but that happens often. His silver coloring is excellent, no tarnish...big plus there! I'm happy with his size and development so far, his profile is becoming very straight, ears look good so far.
Morgan: I love his contrast, very good just like Jacks. His spots are nice, but they have too much vertical alignment IMO. Sometimes this is just a kitten thing and as the cat grows, the spots shift...that would be ok. He's also tarnish free now with great silver color. Same as Sterling on the other aspects.
Trey: Poor Trey, he's still got quite a bit of tarnish. He's got a great pattern and his silver background is correct with white down to the skin. He's the big boy of the three and as far as profile and ear set, he's the same as his siblings at this point.
Honestly they're going to have to be 3 months old before I can make a 100% confident decision on conformation and quality. Even then, sometimes they change enough after an additional 3 months to surprise you.
The parents here are both quality bengals that conform completely and Jack is of course a winning show cat. Time will tell, but I think the whole litter is going to turn out very nice. We are currently holding back 2 of the brown spotted for show eval's.
Hope Hacker has two siamese and two bengals. I think she's said her siamese get along better with the infamous Simba than her other bengal, Angel! I just got two bengals, and already have a siamese. I think the fact that they're close in age (only 4 mos apart) will help a lot. But I think you want to go with an active breed that can keep up with your boy. Anyway, this is all OT. I'll start a new thread for compatible breeds, K?Originally Posted by satan
They are so precious. I know this may the wrong place to ask but with so many Bengal people watching I can't resist.
I've considered getting another cat/kitten to stop boredom problems in my 10 month old Bengal X (De-sexed). While he isn't pure bred his charicterists and personality is freakishly similar. I was wondering if there's a breed in particular that Bengal's get along well with more than most also male or female. My husband would like a Siamese but I suggested seeing as they both love themsleves and consider themselves as the boss of households they may clash. Would it be better to get a more passive mannered breed. Also what age?

Well congratulations on your new kitten.I was asking about his sire, because he looks like he could have been out of Victorybengals Steely of Bluewater, who is the sire of my stud Full metal Jacket...aka Jack.
Hope you'll stick around here so we can enjoy pictures and stories.
Well, my little Sofia is not a purebred (but mom is a Scottish Fold, so she has the influence of that breeding in her), but she is a silver, so I will show you some pics on how she developed to help you out.Originally Posted by Leslie301
So the question would be..... Does this kitty's background seem white enough? I don't have much to compare to- and it's so hard when they're in the fuzzies!
