Yesterday I noticed that Tartine has an eye infection - there was pus in the corner and running down her cheek, and the eye was red. So the vet came this morning and we had to fight her for half an hour to get ointment in her eye. She was completely wild, bucking, rearing, pulling us all round the stable. Fortunately the man who delivers hay came while we were struggling, and the three of us managed to do the job. But of course the vet gave me enough ointment for three days, night and morning, and I was dreading what would happen tonight, when I was on my own. And I did it! She was scared, but she let me hold her halter and squirt the tube into her eye without much fuss at all. That doesn't mean it will happen like that tomorrow, but I have much more confidence now. I guess she was terrified of the strange people, but she is still very skittish even with me.

Horses are smart. Maybe once she got the first dose, and realized it didn't hurt, she decided to cooperate?

That's great! I really think Tartine trusts you and likes you more than you think Jenny

This morning wasn't too bad, though I got as much around her eye as in it! It is looking better though, so I am hopeful. She was not bucking around like yesterday, as I tried to dose her. She hates being stuck in the stable, and I spent an hour with her, just talking, which I think helped. Poor thing, she doesn't understand.

I am glad that it went better today, I hope she continues to recover.
