hmmmm.....I haven't yet seen one mentioned the way I like to eat my baked potatoes. I, of course, put butter on it, then I put Ranch dressing on it. Then I put Potato Toppers on it (it's a packet of dried spices and such), then salt & pepper.

Oh man you people are making me hungry. I want a baked potato now. From Wendy's, because then I can be lazy and not have to do it myself. And I want it to have sour cream and chives on it. Mmmmm or maybe cheese. Thankfully I am in my pyjamas so I won't make it to Wendy's. With any luck, that is....

For me I like either:

1. Just butter and salt and pepper or citrus pepper;
2. Just plain nonfat yogurt and citrus pepper;
3. Just plain nonfat cottage cheese and citrus pepper.

While a microwave is faster for baking potatoes, nothing beats a potato that was baked in an oven. I bake mine at 400 degrees for about 45 minutes. That makes a nice crispy sweet skin with a soft inside. Yummy!

Or I like to slice the potato up and then layer it with sliced onion, dill weed, garlic and salt and pepper with a dollop of butter and wrap it in foil and bake it in the oven.

I also like to slice up potatoes and onions and then alternate layers of potatoes and then onions, topping each layer with a bit of flour, salt and pepper and a teaspoon of butter with the top layer ending with potatoes. I then mix up a can of Cream of Mushroom Soup or Cheddar Cheese Soup with 1 can of milk and pour it over the potatoes and onions. Cover and bake until a knife inserted in the middle encounters soft potatoes.

The normal white baking potatoes taste icky to me anymore, dry and bland.
Baked sweet potatoes are yummy though! With a little butter, salt and pepper. I think I might make a couple this weekend.

Butter, cheese and chives

Tuns and mayo is nice. If I am feeling very virtuous, cottage cheese (not often as it's just not the same!!!

Yes! Though at home I'll usually just put butter and a bit of salt, but I do like sour cream. At restaurants I'll get the loaded baked potato but now that I'm watching what I eat I'll probably just go for alittle bit of sour cream/and or butter to soften things up.

I don't recall ever seeing that in the States, but then again, baked beans on toast isn't common there, either.
