Hi. I already posted a thread, but I guess I'll introduce myself properly.

I'm single and live alone (in terms of humans). I have a 4.5-year-old tortie named Mi-ke ("mee-kay")--it's the term used for calico Japanese bobtails, as it means "three fur" or "three color" or something in Japanese. Her middle name is "Neko," which means cat, so...her full name is Three-Color Cat. Or something. I like her name, but it's a heap of trouble for others as they want to say "mike."

Anyway, I got her from the shelter shortly after moving out on my own. I'd had a cat before, Tao. She was killed. Then we had some "free range" cats we fed, one of whom was neutered and is now my brother's pet.

I used to have a snake--well, two. I had one, and it died. Then I got another, and it died. So I've given up on snakes.

Anyway, Mi-ke is...weird. She suckles, she doesn't like people food, she's mental for catnip...she puts up with me, which is the main thing, I guess.

Ah, you've touched a chord with Mi-Ke's name and the explanation; although Japanese is not one of my ancestries, I've always loved Japanese culture, and studied it, so I've known about this from back in the day. I collect Maneki-Neko, the "good luck, beckoning cat" figurines that began in Japan and are now used in many Asian businesses and homes for good fortune, health, etc. Those cats are bobtails, too...

We'd love to see some photos of Mi-Ke Neko! and Tao, too, if you would want to share -- btw, may we ask what happneed to Tao? We are so sorry to hear of your loss of her and of your snake friends.

All 9 of us are rescued, indoor-only, spayed/neutered, and our devoted servant has lived with, loved, rescued, and advoCATed for cats all her life. We live in the desert, and there are beautiful snakes out here, too -- one big Pine-Gopher snake visited this land a lot last summer/autumn, and was well over 6' long! Anyway, enjoy the forums and hope to see you soon!
