I know there are lots of y'all on here who work out at a gym or YMCA but I'm wondering if any of y'all have ever used a Total Gym Ultra? We got one recently...it was my sis' and she got herself the BowFlex she'd been wanting for a while so I got this from her. Anyway, it seems really easy to use but comes with a vcr tape...our vcr player isn't working so I'm having to figure out on my own how to use it. By the way...the cats love it! LOL! I'd sure love to hear from anyone who has used it before...I'd like to know what you thought of it!

Ok...so I'm gonna start working out on it next week...maybe I'll look like Christie Brinkley before you know it!!!
Well, as long as I don't end up looking like Chuck Norris, its all good with me!

Hey Natalie...thanks! Somehow I knew you'd be the first one to reply to this!

But...I didn't think you'd be the only one...

Thanks Kenz! Shortly after I joined on here, I believe it was you who posted a thread about how you were going to start working out and wanted us to back you up...was that you? Well, if it was...how are you doing with it? I hope you're keeping it up! Good luck with it!

I don't own one of those things, I do have a treadmill though. I just gotta get more faithful on it.

Several of my co-workers have joined a new gym thing. It is for ladies only, and now some of them are on a kick about working out. They have been doing it for about two weeks. They keep trying to get me to join and go with them.

But I haven't yet, I might though, I am going to the doctor in a couple of weeks for a check-up and I will ask him if it is ok. I have bad bones and that is the reason I walk, but I don't know if working out will hurt me or help me, so I am gonna ask him about it.

But these co-workers will end up quitting anyways, it is a new thing with them right now, it will get old and they will start slacking off.

Watching the robins sing!
I feel so guilty! I do nothing at home and I know that I should work out or walk or something! I have a Dr's apt. in 2 weeks for my blood pressure and she is going to hit the roof when she finds out that I haven't lost any weight!
I just can't seem to get motivated to diet or exercise. But good luck with the Total Gym - I must say that I have watched the infomercial for years and it always seems to be on TV - maybe you could watch that and then see how they do the exercises!

I think any of them will work if you stick with them. Too often people work out a couple of times and then never do it again. So they think the machine never worked.

Definitely its all about getting and staying motivated. Several years ago, I used to workout every day, M-F, without fail! I loved it! I felt great and I had so much energy and stamina. Now...its been months...I wouldn't be lying if I said it was well over a year (maybe 2) since I've worked out. So much has happened in our family here that I just have so many other things to concentrate & worry about...that working out just isn't anywhere in the picture. But I can see & feel the awful toll its taken on my body, not working out that is. I've gained weight, gone soft, have no energy...just pretty durn blah all the time...and that can't be good for a person at any age, but especially at my age now. Seems like the older you get, the more important it is that you exercise and try to be active. I just need to get motivated...get off my bottom...and get moving.

Well, I don't know why I hadn't thought of it before. I searched the web and found this. There are alll sorts of exercises and stuff on here that I can refer to...

Also found this on youtube...(there are also some not so favourable comments on there but I guess not everyone likes it)...

My problem...well, one of them...is that I had a rotator cuff injury a while ago and its hard to do alot of movement with my left shoulder. I guess I have to start out slowly and work up to it. Thing is, when I was working out regularly, I didn't have all the problem with it even though I got hurt over 20 years ago! Just makes sense to try & stay in shape...in the long run, it'll be worth it.
