It seems there is a pilot in the works for a new Grey's Anatomy spinoff.

It would mean the departure of Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) from Seattle Grace Hospital. A spinoff is a risky move, but with 12 cast members, it has become increasingly difficult for the writers to include all the characters in the storylines and keep the character developments progressing at a steady enough speed to meet fan demand. I'm not sure what to say about this. I agree that there is less conflict tying Addison in now that the divorce is final and she's feeling friendly toward Meredith, but still she's become a very well-recieved character in the last season and a half. Also, a role model and possible love interest for Alex Karev (Justin Chambers). I sort of like her at SGH, but that's just me.

Apparently, the 2 hour pilot will be aired as a late May episode so that the network can test response before committing to a fall slot.

What do you guys think?

I guess we know who is supposedly leaving. I think it will flop. Why here? McSteamy should get his own spin off. What does Addison have to offer?

TV shows generally jump the shark or are jumping the shark when spinoffs happen, and they're never as good as the original. Does anyone remember the Joey spinoff from Friends

I don't know if it will be good or not. I hope it doens't flop. iam kinda getting to like her on the show. But I think it has to do with the chemistry of all the characters. I guess we wait and see!

I would like things to stay the same, heck it is the #1 show, why mess around with it. I like the Addison and Alex thing about to happen, for me, the more romance the better
My fav couple may not be what most people like but it is Burke and Christina, I like both their character personalities.

BAAAAAD idea.
First - she is not a captivating enough character to justify her own spinoff.
I was also hoping for an Alex/Addison romance - that's obviously not going to happen.

And also - even a character as awesome as "Joey" on Friends could not hold his own spinoff show. Addison is not even in Joey's league, so how could the show survive if that one didn't?

I hope the test response is poor and the writers realize that this is not the time to pursue a spinoff on this show. Wouldn't it be better to try it later in the show's progression, like how Cheers spunoff Frazier when Cheers ended?

I don't think it will last if they do it- it's too soon for a spinoff in the first place and aside from that -spinoffs just never seem as good as the origional.

Frazier was the best spinoff sucess I think.

There was a spinoff to 3's Company - that lasted 1 season.

A spinoff to Growing Pains - Just the 10 of Us - that lasted maybe 2 seasons?? Anyone remember that show?!

A spinoff to Friends - Joey - 2 seasons.

Angel - the Buffy Spinoff - that had good success though - 5 seasons.
