Well, I posted a bit ago Guy's intestinal difficulties. The good news is the vet hit the nail on the head the first try. He (the cat that is) can't deal with carbs in most foods, so now he's on a high-protein kitty Adkins diet.

We switched him to his new high protein food, and his stool already has taken on a more desirable shape...

However, the vet said he's getting chunky (I actually knew that already...Guy's a little-boned 14 lb-er now.) She recommended we feed him a half cup of his new food a day.

And that's where the problem comes in...at least as far as Guy is concerned. He's not happy with his food being cut in half. He's used to getting a cup every day, split into three portions (once before bed, once in the morning, and a snack when Dad gets home.) Would it be better to switch to two equal portions a day? I'm just not sure how to make this easier on all of us, since he thinks we're starving him now.

I'm glad he's feeling a little better now.

I would be more inclined to keep the same schedule, and slowly reduce the portions down to what your vet suggested.

I would feed him 1/4 of a cup in the morning and 1/4 of a cup in the evening before bed.

I have two male cats and I feed them each 1/3 of a cup in the morning and 1/3 of a cup at night.

They do okay but about a hour before eating time they are waiting for it!! LOL.
