Can anyone recommend a decent insurance company for cats, without being too expensive

Movin' on up!
I went to http://www.petinsurance.com and got a free, online quote, for both cats and Ike. The standard plan, for all three, is $322.90 per year/$26.90 per month.

You give them your pets' species, breed and age and they work up the quote, in about a minute.

Compared to what ONE illness or injury can cost, this seems pretty reasonable.

Hi jmc, I have my cat insurance with www.healthy-pets.co.uk which are pretty good, I insure 7 cats for about £34 a month, I also insure my two dogs with Petplan (www.petplan.co.uk) which is pretty good too, though I'm thinking of changing them all over to Direct-line as they give a discount for multiple pets and we have our car insurance with them...

Hope that helps

JMC - I use Equine and Livestock (E&L). They initially covered farm stock, but have diversified into household pets.

They have a range of policies offering different levels of cover so you can choose something that fits your budget, and are very good at settling claims. I recently had a bit of a problem with one claim and they were very helpful and obliging.

Each persian costs me about £8 per month - but I have them on the top-level plan (not 'cause I'm flush or anything, but coz they're sickly little pedigree beings).

Many thanks Bodlover, I had my insurance on our 2 cats( soon to be 3! ) with healthy pets, but they changed their underwriters to Cornhill the same as Petlan, originally we arranged to pay a higher excess which reduced the monthly payment, but Cornhill have done away with that in order to make more money from us punters.

I today received info from Animal Friends they are good rates and offer multiple discounts for 3 pets & over.
Direct Line on the internet is more expensive.

Kind Regards

Hi Yola,
many thanks for your posting.
We know only too well about persians and how sickly they can be.We lost our Pepe this year due to bone marrow problems, we were both devestated as he was only 7. Lucy his sister is still here, we got a british shorthair to fill the gap Pepe left and we are about to get another shorthair this weekend.

I have checked E & L and they seem quite good, as posted above we have looked at Animal Friends Insurance which is underwritten by E & L the attraction with these people is that all profits go back in helping animals

Kind Regards
