Cat has torn nipple - what to do?

I'm not even sure it's a big deal, but I discovered my female cat has a slightly torn nipple that looks like is is about halfway off, but slightly scabbed over and done bleeding. She is fixed, so there are no nursing needs/concerns.

I think she may have licked/chewed it as the cause, but it is probably possible from her playing or even us picking her up? no idea...

Do I need to do anything? it seems like she cleaned it up fairly well already. Thoughts?

I can't imagine she would do that to herself! Do you have other pets? Is there anything sharp around the house that she could have scraped against?

Main question: does she ever go outside? If an unknown animal did that to her, she may have contracted a disease from it (heaven forbid).

Depending on the answers to these questions, I would either take her in for a checkup, or at least call the vet and ask what he thinks.

yes it's an indoor cat, and there are no other animals. She's been a bit wild lately running around the house, so it's possible she climbed up somewhere she shouldn't have been near something sharp.

She doesn't even seem to recognize she's got a nick... and she is certainly keeping it clean and it looks like I would imagine a 'healthy nick' would...

is this a common thing for active indoor cats?

The poor girl! Just watch it closely to make sure it doesn't get infected. You might check the places she normall sleeps/plays, etc. looking for any sharp edges that weren't there before. Hope she feels better!
