I usually pride myself from cooking from scratch. But I admit, I've cooked Stroganoff from Hamburger helper when I crave something sinful. Sort of like Kraft Dinner. Sometimes you're in the mood for that type of stuff.

I think I did make stroganoff from scratch many eons ago and I used flour and sour cream and probably something else. Can't remember.

I can honestly say I don't think I've ever made stroganoff ever in my life!

I'm sure hubby would like it, though. Anything with meat and noodles works for him!

OMG! I haven't had that in a loooooooooooooooong time!

Recently we have been getting the heat and eat kind and sometimes adding sour cream and mustard to it so it tastes similar to what we used to make all the time.

After browning the ground beef we'd add a mixture of 2 Tablespoons of mustard, 1 Tablespoon of flour and enough water to make about 2 cups of liquid. Cook with the ground beef until slightly thick and add noodles. Stir, then add 1/2 cup or so of sour cream.

Measurements are approximate.

I use a recipe from Cook's Illustrated in where I use beef tenderloin (its always on sale somewhere) and made the "sauce" with beef & chicken broth, onion, mushrooms, white wine, sour cream and a few other ingredients. You could probably substitute other meat. Served over extra wide egg noodles.
