Here is something that bothers me about Science Diet (even though I feed it to both of my cats) They have a special food for:

cats under one year
cats 1 to 7 years
cats 7 - 12 years
senior cats
hairball formula
UTI formula
indoor cat
outdoor cat
sensitive stomach
bad breath

and I swear about twenty different other formulas. Now what the ^%$#@ am I supposed to do, feed my cats ten or twenty different formulas to make sure they get everything? Why is not all of these "special" formulas all in one formula? What if I have a cat with longhair (there is a special formula for that) and that is an indoor cat (one for that) a kitten (one for that) on and on it goes. So I should feed Persi about 8 different foods and Alley about 9 different foods? How does this work? I am in the process now of switching Persi who is ten months old to the INDOOR ADULT formula so that my two cats can eat the same thing (here is a case where you have two things but if he had hairballs then I would have to get a couple other different ones? I am certainly not picking on Science diet because Persi has thrived and never had a sick day on it and all the other brands seem to have myriads of different formulas for this and that. My question is a simple one: Why not have one food that protects my cats from ALL of these things? It drives me crazy. Maybe I should start making my own cat food like some others do on here, and maybe it is things like this that drove them to do it.

side note i looked at indoor adult it seems way to close to light
... many formulas will address more than one problem but not all cat owners will read the % s and ingrediants to find it so the marketing folks make a bungh of pachages
